p.1 #1 · Which labs?

Hey guys, just wondering which labs offered the best sports specific products...you know, the best trading cards, magazine covers, tickets, calendars and all that stuff.
I know MPIX has some, but their trading cards are kind of lame....

i'm trying mvp but their roes software errors on me when i try to retrieve the my saved order. i may be doing something wrong. selection is limited as well but ok.

The trading cards from MVP are very nice (I design my own, but the printing is superb). They also offer a decent range of sports-specific products as well.

I use MPIX and agree the trading cards template is funky. So are the memory mates and magazine cover. Parents are not happy with the Break Away Buzz that is printed on them for soccer.

I've seen some advertise that the magazine covers actually say Sports Illustrated..and the Trading cards are Topps as well as others....anyway, thats kind of what i was looking for. I'll check out mvp and see what they have.

I haven't been impressed with hardly any card or mag cover templates. That's why I choose to spend the time on my own.

Where do you get the self designed cards printed? I have long thought I could design a better card template but I have been unable to find anyone that will print the two sided card at a reasonable price.

Brad-- nope.

Keith- only printed this on Epson photo paper-- it was made for fun for my sons teammates (for free), not to take to a realistic level or for any commercial sales. My point was only to illustrate that templates for virtually anything can be done in-house with a little PS knowledge, especially the easy stuff like mag covers and baseball cards (obviously, you need to alter the design accordingly).

Tom...there are companies that have licensed these names for this purpose...apparently though nobody here is sharing their sources. I'm pretty sure that express digital labs have some of these sorts of things. I know for example the "wheaties" box is a licensed product, and also some of the trading cards are licensed and even include the gum now...just dont remember the name of the lab that offered them.......

I'd be interested in a lab that could print two sided cards from the photog's own templates as well. The only way I've read about it being done in-house so far require using a card stock that is adhesive on two sides, and you print and place the front and back of the cards, and then cut them. I've never seen any that were done that way. I also couldn't find double adhesive sided card stock when I did a quick online search, though the article I read said it was available.

I'm thinking about purchasing a HP Z2100 and it will print on some pretty heavy stock. I'm not sure how accurate the registration/alignment is though, if it would allow feeding something through twice for the front and back and having it all lined up?

Tom...I neglected to say I really like the card....and I understand your reasoning for posting...however I still hope someone will step forward with a potential source for custom designed cards....the mag covers are no problem!

Keith, I hooked up with this lab a few months ago and they have a large assortment of items. They have ROES software that has an option for adding custom items which one is trading cards.

Give them a look and check things out. Best of luck....
