Hello all. I did a research but couldn't find what I needed.

I shoot nature pics (birds) and have begun shooting a few pics in the RAW (experimenting) and now want to process in PSE7 (trial version) and post bird pics on the web. I just need to crop and sharpen a little for the web. The problem is I don't know how to get a RAW picture to the web. Can someone provide a simple guide or point me in the direction on how to get a RAW image from PSE7 to the web for viewing? I am a rookie at post processing and getting the image to the web.

You're talking about an area that can take years (and more) to get proficient at. If you just want a straight conversion, your camera probably came with conversion software that you can just load the image and save as jpeg.

But then if you do that, you may as well continue shooting in jpeg and set your conversion options in your camera.

I do not have PSE so do not know the specific clicks. However, open the image in PSE, adjust to taste, convert to sRGB colorspace if it is not already there, save to disk as JPG.

For posting, the choices are endless. you need to subscribe to one of the many upload sites available. I have my own site so am not familiar with all the options. If you want to post here, you can subscribe to image upload or just link to another site where the image is located.

Using RAW makes it much easier to adjust some things like color temperature. Even if you cannot use it to full advantage it is worth exploring.

I think that you can't post RAW images on the web...

No I'm not trying to post RAW images to the web I was trying to find out how to go from the RAW image (process) and then post the processed version to the web. I may not have been to clear on that.

Have your monitor calibrated, use the controls you need to make the image look as you want it (easier said than done sometimes). Set ACR to 8 bit srgb and in PS you can open a small size image 2.8mb or 6.xmb (D200). That way you don't have to reduce the image as far as from the standard sensor size. Resize the pic to what the site you are using recommends or if this is for your own site, 600-800 pixels on the long side, I save as a jpeg 7 or 8. Definitely something that gets better over time but shouldn't be hard to start.
