p.1 #1 · Black background attempt

This was my first attempt at getting a black background during the daytime using high speed sync.

Any advice on how i can improve the background/lighting would be appreciated.

This was my first attempt at shooting with two lenses also, I have used one lens reversed before but this time i used my 135 with a 50 hand held the 50 , i ordered the male to male coupler ring today.

1/800 at f/11 remote flash on tripod camera handheld..

Maybe consider using a flash with a bounce and play with it from 1/4-1/16 and see what works. If you can't do that maybe just use some while stock to bounce as much light at the subject at possible and play with it.

You don't need high speed sync flash to get a black BG- just something like ISO 100, 1/250, F13, with the camera in manual and flash in ttl with no BG within about a foot of the subject normally does it, assuming you are shooting at 1:1 or higher.

^--- What Brian said ---^

I shoot with black backgrounds above 1x all the time -actually prefer it since it helps to isolate the subject...
