Hi
i have a 1D and want to up date firmware but the Canon site says i have to download the info onto a cf card but it says that you have download it to the root of the cf card but not sure how to do this can anybody help.

Download the correct firmware to your computer, and extract the file! Filename should end in .bin

Use a small capacity CF i.e. 512Meg card and use a card reader, just copy the file onto the card, do not put it in any map, just top level.

Put the card in your 1D, be dead sure you do have a freshly charged battery, select firmware upgrade in menu and start upgrade!
