p.1 #1 · Had it with Adobe

Is there other image processing sofware comparable with Photoshop? Long story short, Adobe has dropped the ball twice through customer service and after what was supposed to be 7-9 days it's now a month and I still haven't received my CS4 after switching to a Mac system while my new computer sits in the box.

Can't you download the trial and use it for 30 days before needing to enter a license code? You could take your new computer out of the box and hopefully they'll fix it in the next 30 days.

Perhaps they did not receive your faxed copy of agreement. I would call them again.

p.1 #4 · Had it with Adobe

Well, earlier this year I switched from Windows XP to a Mac Pro and asked Adobe to convert my licenses for Photoshop CS3, Dreamweaver CS3 and Lightroom 1.4. I did have to chase them weekly for updates but after 5 weeks I got the new Mac versions, boxed software, delivered by UPS. Can't really complain at all about the Adobe service, I was quoted 3 to 4 weeks, turned out to be almost 5 including shipping, not bad really. I used to the trial version of CS3 to keep me going in the interim.

I am assuming you have fully proved to them your original license numbers for Windows and sent off copies of the letters of destruction. I would call them again and kindly ask for an update. Good luck!

I have called them 4 times and gotten a different story every time. First, it was they had no record of the certificate of destruction despite sending a fax and an email. The second time a week later after again sending the letter the person I talked to also said no letter had been received. He said I had to send it in again. I called back again immediately after talking to him and got another person who had record of the letter and said he would personally see that it was sent out the next day. A week later I called and the person I talked to said they had the letter but there was a backup and it would be sent sometime in the future and couldn't say when.

Yeah, many IMPs say that the Corel suite is more robust and more painterly at the same time. Try it.

You might also wanna try CinePaint - it's free too.

I use CinePaint occasionally. I haven't messed with the new Corel products besides Painter and CorelDraw yet though.

Krita is also good - and also free.

There's Seashore but I haven't tried it yet: http://seashore.sourceforge.net/ If you give it a go let us know how it is.

I had to do a bit of chasing (should really say someone did this for me) with adobe but after about 3 weeks I have got a free upgrade to CS4 as just bought the previous version just before release.

What features are you looking for? "Photoshop without license" is probably not one of the options, but GIMP, Krita, and others are quite capable - but different.

adobe is the last place to order their products. ReAL SLOW. Know two others with similar experiences. If you want adobe products get it somewhere else.

Cross platform and abandonment of software is not Adobe's forte. They shipped me a PC CS4 after I ordered Mac. I got the other CS4 quickly but am still working on the Letter of Destruction."

Reko:

There is a program for the Mac called Pixelmator that will do much of what PS will do for about $60. It has a trial you can use to see if it will do what you want. The interface will look very familiar to a PS user.

Good luck,
