My 4 year old girl {surprisingly} let me take pictures of her yesterday!! I need everyone's help with the last picture... is it website worthy? Here is my site - www.heathercking.com - maybe it'll help somehow :/ . I personally love it, but i just dont know if anyone else will. It looks like she's super imposed on to the image though... and she's not, lol. Anyway. Thank you all in advance!
That's a neat place to take some photos that's for sure. And a little model you have there :P How did you achieve the effect in the last one? I'd say if it is PS'd and it fits with your portfolio then add it. But if you dont have any other tweaked photos I'd pass. Nice job w/ the little one in the b/w's.
I think any image posted here would get better/more/accurate/ and more helpful comments if the photographer posted in their introduction the:
1. Intent of the image
What is its purpose meant to be?
Is it selling something? Is it to represent your best work?
Is it used for a commercial purpose, an ad, etc.
How do you want it to affect others? To what goal?
Is is a family picture for your own keeping, or is it something you want to sell to others and to whom?
Was it for "fun" (and does not represent your photography business) or is for "money" and does represent what you do (for business/hire)?
2. Its method or place of presentation
Will it be a focal point of an ad?
Will it be one of many images from the session or the only one?
Will it be presented as a "portrait" or as a "snap" or as a "detail?"
I mention this because you asked for help. But, I am not sure what "help" you really want on the image.
I take thousands of pictures of her and from each "session" i have with her, i end up with some i want to add to my portfolio that gets me paid sessions. Naturally i want to add them ALL, but I dont want to have too many of my own kid in it. I added the top black and whites and was mainly wondering if the bottom image would be one that'd "wow" potential clients. All in all, it was just for fun. The location was one i wanted to try out before i took a client there - i have a high fashion model next week that is wanting a grunge backdrop.
I was just going for something different for a kid, ended up with a few that i liked and wanna know if they wow anyone - naturally they'll wow me 'cause she mine : )

Keep the last shot for your own scrapbook or home.
It looks like "an amateur photographer went crazy with photoshop distort filter" instead of a "WOW" "professional" picture I would want of my child.
Key thing? How well does it show the child (features/face/expression)?
Or...is it more about a new photoshop gimmick?
But...everyone has their own taste.
So, if it is the direction you want to go and the "look" you want parents to think is your best or your style or what THEIR kids will look like in your portraits...then use it on your site/book/promos.
As I always say: Follow your own muse.
I say that because I create what I want to create and my style (or preferences) are my own. I don't expect everyone to like them or think them "WOW." But enough do like them, for me to make a living.
Had she been closer and stood out well from the background, I think this one might work. But being so small in the frame and blending into the background so well, posting it may not be the best choice.
Heather, my opinion is pretty much the same as Steady's and Jim's. I had a quick look through your website (very nice), and I saw the image of the freeway, but it seemed a little out of place next to all the other kids' shots. Plus, the website image is very small, which makes your daughter look even smaller in the picture.
