Nice series Lou. I would love to see one of these someday. That is one special creature. #1 is my favorite, and it sure is sharp for using the 2x. Way to go.

Thanks Mark and yes you are right as they are really a special raptor. I was really pleased with the 2X performance as I useally don't do well with it and I did not have my wimberly head as I was useing a gimble head for the 500 and the way the wind was blowing I was tempted to get low on the ground but I was afraid if I did that it would fly and no way can I track a bird if I'm laying on the ground. Next trip my 800 on the surveyors tripod with the spikes stuck deep in the ground and the wimberly on it.

Thank you Irv for the photo comment and as for the driving well I'll leave that up to Herb when the two of you make tracks for Plum Island. Hey also just so you guys know only about 15 minuets from the park on Plum is a place called Deer Island and the eagles should be coming in there soon as the water don't freeze and the food is plentyful for them. Let me know when your going and if your staying at a motel as I may join you guys so make sure you order a nice suite.
Google Plum Island Ma. and then follow over to the west to the Merrmarick River and look for deer Island.

Wow these are beautiful. I spent vacations as a kid on PI (70s) and the wildlife were either scared or dead from the chems. Great to see it so revived.

Riddle: why did the buck cross the river in November (the rut)?

Thanks Nello and yeah I was happy with them as I don't do all that well with a 2X on there and then I though about stacking them. Should have. Yes they are a really cool looking raptor and of a fair size. I'll go back.

Thanks Steve and also for the answer to the buk floating accross the water
Hunting season you know but not where he is as Plum is now a State Preserve and $5.00 per car, good deal for a day. I also saw what I think was kites and I saw 4 in flight as they moved fast over the marsh grass

Well little flurry they are starting their migration from the Tundra down the National Seashore of New England and I am on Plum Island in the north part of Mass. where I am finding these this day. They will be seen right on out to the end of Cape Cod which is a bit closer for me so maybe I'll be getting more.

Boy I know what you mean Ken as I have seen them on the Island last year but to late into the migration and missed out but we did see one then but it was a long way out and not a chance of a photo. I would say these were about 600 to 700 feet for the longest and about 400 to 450 for the closest. I am very lucky to come away with what I did. Thanks for the look

Thanks Lil and I hope your recovery is a quick one. My daughter lived in this area as both her and her husband were P&G people and they went through a lot of everything this State throws at people. They then went to Japan for 5 years and are now just moved back into Ohio where the Corporate HQ is and I sure was happy to have them move from Calif. as was my daughter. I think you should move where they have bluejays

Thanks Pete but they are not all that close as the few are from 5 to 600 feet and the closer one was about 4 to 450 and I used a 2X on my 500 and at high ISOs as due the light and weather. If you get lucky you could get one really close but most of the time if you find one and set up on the marsh edge in about 30 seconds 12 cars are there and a dozen long lens are sticking out. The first one kept flying as there were just to many people and noise where the second closer one seemed more tolerant of all of us.
