I'd go with #1 or #6 from your Zenfolio (preferring #6) or #6 that you posted here. I'd also suggest one image on the front cover for maximum impact.
Ha det brä.

Thank you Ray,
loved speaking with you on the phone last night. When I told my husband who it was I had been talking to he got all excited - - he loves your photos. Say hi to Daisy & Maria.

#1..After a year of "friendship", there is an emotional investment with him/her...now he/she belongs as part of the family album.

Thank you Steve,
I have more than one photo of her & also her pups. She will be featured. She is part of the family by now. And yes, she is a female - - live with them the way I do you soon learn to see the differences.
Thank you Martin for all your suggestions. I will see what I can do & what I come up with. About 10 minutes ago I went outside to put my large horse in his stall for the night. I saw a huge cloud, not surprising in the high winds we have right now, but the color was strange. I've just realized that the entire mountainside is on fire again - this time closer to our home & strong winds. I'm considering starting to pack a suitcase for us - all pets looked up & easily reached. But with the winds tossing around like they are we're not in a good place right now.... No planes & no helicopter drops at night in these winds..... Houses are on fire here as well as in Santa Barbara.....
Thanks
Lil
Gosh that sounds awful Lil. I hope the fires stay away and you and all your family including animals/pets are/will be safe.

Martin,
there are planes or is it helicopters dropping flame retardant now - - but the winds are making all these efforts worthless. The fire just starts up again & again. Huge flames. It's kind of scary with the winds.......
Doubt I'll get much sleep tonight.... I better start packing things I want to protect....

regards to your hubby Lil., you never know, one day we will all go out for dinner some where cool., I just read about the fires near your home here, I sure hope you will be ok., gosh, I can't imagine!
Wish we could offer you a place to stay here., but it is a long way to bring those horses.

Would love to go out to dinner with you, Daisy & Maria. Sounds like a plan Ray.
Fires...... yes.... very close. If you read about the 500 mobile homes which went up in fire in Sylmar. That's only minutes from our house. It was when their propane tanks started exploding & the sky turned black I evacuated the horses.
Neighbor's palm trees were on fire & we have a neighbor with a dead huge pine tree next to us. If that would have caught fire.. Then there would have been a huge fire... our house, her house & our barn would have gone for sure. 70mph winds with wildfires is not a good combination. I have slept about 4 - 5 hours in the last 40+ hours.
But - - our house is still standing. All pets well & accounted for at last check (am about to do final check on our barn cats...) & we are fine.
My eyes are killing me - - the air was horrendous & my eyes have not ever hurt this much.
PS. I'm working on a 100+ page book too... wow what a bunch of work...
Thanks Chad,
my work has come to a halt the last few days. The fires this time threatened our home & we have a huge amount of cleaning to do. I evacuated the horses. They're now back home. We're all fine, house fine, barn fine & yes - - all the pets, dogs, cats, birds, squirrels, wildcat, wild birds etc etc etc seem fine. But there's smoke, ashes, dirt & just about anything else you can imagine around.
My eyes hurt from all the toxins in the air.
Got to clean the house for a few days, though all smell of smoke & I'm sure the only way to clean the house is to get 10 cleaning crews to go through it over & over again. And have the carpets cleaned about 10 times as well............
I will slowly try to catch up here - - but for now I'm still really out of it....
Lil
Thank you everyone who's helped out. I appreciate everyone's help.

I've looked over these a hundred times now.
I keep thinking that the book will be sitting on the table "CLOSED" most of the time.
Closed until someone opens it of course
So you want an image that is colorful and decorative IMHO
Something that draws your attention to it and is a conversation piece.
For that reason my pick may be different than others.
I have intentionally not read the other comments as I didn't want their opinions to sway me one way or the other. And to be honest > their opinion doesn't really matter < It's must me, number 1 son that really REALLY matters
I am going with two pics for your consideration
Pic 1 - # 8 Is bright, Cheerful, and goes with about any decor
From a distance it's a beautiful bright yellow flower. But when you look close
You get the nice surprise of a grasshopper inside the flora. I can hear most
people commenting at the house >> Oh look theirs a big in there
I think it's a great conversation starter about the book
Pic 2 - # 7 is one of those awwwwwe shots of parent feeding baby and has impact.
