I find the first photo very intriguing. With a bit softer light and no blown highlights (upper right) this could be really special. My eye is drawn out to the ocean and I just want to explore that little beach!

Thanks Vern... You're right.... the sun was just off to the right. I think I need to rework this one a bit.... but I just love the textures in this shot.
Cool spot indeed. That would be a good place to revisit for some dramatic lighting. It's a good comp and nice midday shot (minus the things noted above :-P)
The first is nice. The hot spot on the upper right was already mentioned, but you also need to either crop or clone out the vignetting in the bottom corners.
#1 ... breautiful. looks like rocks, back drop, flash from right top, and froth in the foreground .. hahhaha .. just kidding. Beautiful capture, the colors are so lovely. but few things, the shadow detail on the rock face and sand in the right side looks a bit unnatural, a bit too bright.

Thanks David! Good point about the vignetting. I meant to do a quick clone... but forgot very quickly.... thanks!

lovely shot in the first one, was it an HDR?
Thanks Ben! Yes, this was hdr from an individual raw file. But I personally do not like hdr overdone to the point where it looks fake. I used it to enhance the sky and the shadow detail and textures. Thanks again!

Thanks Ashish! Yes, you can say it's froth.
The shadow however, was there... the only other way to avoid that would be to wait for a better time of day.... being that I was on vacation... that was my ONLY opportunity unfortunately.
#1 is a really nice shot, but it feels unnatural. The right rock is much too bright when the light source is coming from behind it. I love the color and texture, but even the shadow on the right side is getting brighter as it nears the rock face (kind of backwards). But that's kind of what HDR is supposed to do so to each his own. Cool place!

Thank you Nathan for those observations. I'll have to look it over and perhaps do some dodging and burning...
I like the composition , but I don't care for either the over-saturation or the obvious HDR presentation. Perhaps these aspects can be improved by more sympathetic processing ?

Thanks Adrian.... I personally don't like the overdone hdr processing as well. I tried to do it as subtly as possible, so I went with very agressive smoothing of colors and tones, so that it still looks like the real thing.
Here's the original so you can compare....... I'm sure you can see why I went through the trouble of doing hdr processing....
i like the depth and the water movement in the first one! the slight hdr look is a bit turn off for me, but it looks good and well-executed! remove the vignette and you're good!
