p.1 #1 · Cloudless MV Morning

We were on our way to Lake Powell but had to stop at Monument Valley hoping to catch the full moon rise there. The moonrise bombed so you have make do with what you have.
This was hand held while lying on my back trying to get low enough to frame the shot with the Juniper tree. I didn't feel them at the time but my wife pulled cactus needles out of my shirt afterwards.
This is 2 exposures hand blended from a single RAW file.

Great color in a sweet composition. Well worth the needles (not sure your wife feels the same).

Very cool Henry. Is this "that Junper tree?" Looks like could be the other side of the tree. Nice crisp silhouettes.

Probably going to go down as my favorite shot of the mittens.
Fantastic framing with the tree.

A well-worth sacrafice.

I have never seen, or heard of anyone -else- shooting upside-down, on thier back.
Excellent effort.
Great shot, a bit noisy, but very nice colors.

Thanks for that, Bob

Very nice www.

Clouds would have ruined this shot. The beautiful color layers of the sky add so much. Well done!

One of my favorite comps of the 'mittens' I've seen. Too bad you got so much noise in the shadows though Take a couple more cactus needles and set up your tripod next time! Great colors, I agree with Sharon, clouds would have hurt this image more than help it.

Really? I've done all sorts of weird contortions... that's half the fun!

Hey Henry,

Sweet work here. I agree clouds would have taken away from this shot, and you ended up with a very unique composition! Good job on your creativity!

Hey Tim, had you seen or heard that your tree is dead as a door knob? I saw that when I was there earlier in the year. I am glad I got the shots I did a couple of years ago with that one.

Lovely composition indeed.
I agree with Floris about the noise, but I love the shot anyway.

Thanks Tim.
I think the tree you are referring to is here: http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/697537
It is not well but was still standing :-)

Wow,
The framing, pale foreground light and the sky colors make this a very nice comp.
Thanks for posting.

I love the composition and the wonderful glow on the horizon. That is so beautiful.
Only the noise in the shadows bothers me a bit, especially on the right mitten.

This is extremely beautiful! Maybe shoot 2 RAW files next time, one exposing for the shadow detail, one for the sky.. I wonder what it will look like.

Thanks for the heads up on the noise.
In my haste to get this posted I did overlook that aspect. Here is another while not perfectly clean it looks a heck of a lot better.
