While we had a full moon I decided to do a little experimenting with long exposures. I took a walk along the tow path near my home in Wolverhampton, I have posted two of the images below. What was really surprising was the quality of the digital images. Each exposure time was in excess of 4 minutes and the noise levels are incredibly low, to the eye the tow-path was almost pitch-black!
#2 is really sweet. these are really cool moonlit shots. surprised, @4mins and the moon didnt get tooooo bright.love the warm tones, wish the right part of #2 had a lil bit more detail.
I agree with David and John that #1 as a landscape looks better than #2, but its the colors, the reflection in water (unlike the dark shoadow in the creek in #1), smoother tones in #2 that really got me.
overall both pictures are really beautiful. good job.
Thanks all for the feedback. I guess what your all saying is walk a bit further down the path and find a better location!
It was my first experiment with moonlight photography and I am going to keep on with it. It was after seeing an image on the black and white forum I felt inspired. Its all clouded over now so tonight is out but I will keep on and report back!
