I'm from Louisiana but Shreveport/Bossier isn't the highlight of our state.

As you drive to New Orleans, there are different routes. You can exit from I-49 and take Hwy 190 at Opelousas to Baton Rouge and pick I-10 up there. This is the shortest and quickest route. However, if you take I-49 to Lafayette and hop I-10 to BR/NO, you will cross the Atchafalaya Basin which is a traditional cypress swamp. There are a couple exits you could take and maybe get a decent photo.

New Orleans, of course, will offer more than you'll ever have time to shoot. Unfortunately, when I lived in the city, I wasn't hooked on photography yet.

Good advice....Shreveport/Bossier City not exactly a wealth of photo ops, though if you like a challenge and pride yourself in taking the find the special areas in any city you could be successful. Depends on how much time and energy you want to expend.

Shevport/Bossier has a few spots that i though would be nice to shoot last time i was there I was mad i didn't have my cam with me.

Shrevport is on one side of the river and Bossier is on the other. You Can park at the Bass around the casino's or at the Bass proshops/outdoor mall and walk around. There is an Alligator cage at bassproshops that might be of intrest if you have never shot one before? And some candids from shoppers ect. Plus it's on the river bank so you can shoot across the river at some of the casino's from there. I would then walk across the bridge and take shots looking in the Shrevport direction halfway across the bridge. Downtown is right on the other side of the bridge and often has colorful nightlife with bars and neons ect. There are old buildings there as well as the new casino's if thats what you like to shoot.

There are tarting to be alot of movies shot in Shrevport and they were filming a car chase scene when I was there. You might even get some papparazzi shot's while your at it.

I would take the advice listed above as well and drive i-10 across the atchafalaya basin.

Before you get on the bridge you will see and exit for henderson/levee road. Take that exit and drive down to the levee and eat at pats. Then i would go up ontop of the levee and take landscapes of the swamp from there.

Hope this helps,

Thanks guys

I'm staying over night in one of the casino hotels so i'll get some shots there, it's only really a stop on the way to Lafayette so i'll only a few hours and a night there but this will help, it seems a waste to go all that way on not photograph it, even if it's not the best Louisiana has to offer. Thank you all

Are you staying in Lafayette, New Orleans, or both?

Lafayette will offer many more "quintessential" Louisiana photos. Cypress trees, live oaks, and alligators will be found even in parks and the Atchafalaya Basin is a short drive plus much more.
