Wow, no ID help either, but it's very prehistoric looking. Good shots, Matt.

Wonderful shots- not seen anything quite like it.
Looks a tiny bit like a soldierfly larva but they don't have legs

Holy crap! Are you in South East Asia? That's called a trilobite beetle and they're very interesting indeed.

Oh, wow I didn't know they resemble firefly larva, I wonder if it's related or just convergent evolution for the environments.

That is very interesting indeed. Strange how some larvae look so much alike yet the adult form is completely different...there's evolution for you

Do any of these look dark to you guys? I had just calibrated my monitor but on this one they look a bit dark. Also, sorry for the differing quality of light, the sun was going in and out all day yesterday.

cool shots.

These didn't seem overly dark to me but now that you plant the idea I am not so sure. #3 is maybe a bit dark but honestly I don't think it's a problem.

sometimes you can't do anything about the light. shot-to-shot consistency has never been a strong suit for me (whether the light changes or not)

Me either. What I found very strange, aside from the body structure and shape, is the way the snail-like head is able to retract back into the body--I've never seen it in any other land based insect besides a snail or slug.

Hadn't even noticed that one of the shots appeared headless. That is a pretty amazing adaptation!
