There's no insinuation about it, the 5D has problems shooting in lowlight. I have shot many times with it this year and that has been the crippler for me. Waiting for a new 5D, for a better system and they put VIDEO in it instead of a better AF. Don't talk about gearheads, Canon has changed that.

So basically, what you want is a better focusing full frame DSLR?

If you think FM is turning in to dpr, as you say in your own thread here then do something about it, and either raise your game and make informative posts, or move on. This kind of posts is insulting to those of us that read the interview and would like to talk about it, and more so to those that have shot film for many years before we migrated to digital.

My own thread? What the hell are you talking about? There are some of us who do actually post photo's and who do actually give input on reasonable questions and discussions. I have no problem with the speculation threads. I get just as excited as everyone else does this time of year.

That said, i also know how to work with what i've got. I use a 7 year old 1D. I'm not a great photographer by any stretch, but i make it work. If you dont' like how the 5D AF's then don't use it. Canon owes you nothing. If you want to switch to Nikon, do so...that is free market capitalism at its best.

This "interview" is PROOOOOF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hear that, leme say it again PROOOOOOOOFFF!!!! that what is said here really does not effect what Canon does.

Bitching about the 5D's AF on FM.com is a waste of time. Go out and take some photo's.

AF isn't exactly the same. Its not a drastic improvement, but its not the same either. Try it first, complain when you miss that shot of the eagle diving right in front of you for a fish

It is pretty clear to me why the 5DII AF system was not changed in a significant way ... during the period when the spec's for the new 5DII were being locked in, Canon was having the 1DIII AF problems. They had not figured it out and just took a conservative decision to not put a new AF system in the 5DII. The pressure was building for a new 5D and they just needed to move forward with a technology that they could count on (or possibly because the upgraded system shared some technology with the 1DIII system). AF upgrades will be a key feature on the 5DIII. Canon will never admit that this is what happened ... we need to just move on.

Yes I would, and please don't say buy an "S". I have the "S"'s little brother. I waited for Canon to see what the 5DMKII would be so I now have a choice. I'm not on here whining about or stomping my feet that Canon didn't do it. I have said that I don't like they what they did though.

And as far as saying get out and shoot. I'll be doing plenty of it this weekend and next.

Are you willing to spend almost 3K on it, to see? Some spent 5K on another body when it first came out. But most wouldn't be willing to by the MKII for shooting eagles.

No offense, but I've never understood comments like this. If we did as you suggest and took photos instead of posting on sites like this, then sites like this would cease to exist. I'd love to be taking photos insead of posting here, but my I'm at work and obviously working quite hard.

You don't like, bring it back. Its not that hard. And its a right granted to you within consumer laws.

I still don't see what the problem is. If you want to take your chances and wait for a new body with the better AF that you want, then give that a try. I know I'm good for a new 5DII

Obviously all the bitching and whining has fallen on deaf ears. Canon have their own agenda. You can either accept it, wait for the 5D Mk III or 3D .... or cross over to the dark side. I am not canceling my pre-order for the 5D II as I think the IQ will outclass any other 35mm DSLR out there right now, plus more than 30 other upgrades over the 5D .... for less than the original price of the 5D. And I have not had a single problem with the AF on my 5D (maybe I have a rare copy ) so I am still a very happy camper.

I call shenanigans, Where's my broom? (South Park Reference, if you got it you laughed.)

I've seen complaints about the 5D and wanting better focus with larger area on various forums. If I have, Canon has, to say different is BS. The argument the 5D system was good enough then and should be good enough now just sucks, make the body a tad bit bigger if that's what it takes. I just hate being lied to. Doesn't keep me from wanting it. Or to cancel my order.

You act as though the majority of camera owners are also forum posters. You would be very wrong...

Ditto. Improving the 5D AF should have been the first thing Canon worked on when updating the 5D. I'd rather have a better AF and still 12mp than the same AF with 21mp. And I don't want a 1D for one reason - its simply too big for my use.
