I recently just visited NYC and went to B&H to buy a Cokin P wide angle holder and ND grad, which I was recommended by the employee. I recently just noticed that I can only fit one filter on it and a 2-Stop ND just doesn't cut it for some situations, so I would like to buy the regular filter holder. I will be using it on my Nikon 20mm 2.8D and I was wondering if I should encounter and vignetting problems, or should I get the Z-Pro system? If I will get a tiny bit of vignetting at the corner I guess I could crop it out, but if there are any major issues then I would rather get something better. I would like to keep it as low budget as possible. Does anyone have this combo already?
I only have a few more days to return the items so your help would be greatly appreciated.
well it all depends on which body you put it on. on a FF it would be a no go item. i use Lee 4x4 filter holder and SWA adapter rings to extract the max WA at 16mm. even then at about 30 deg of rotation i get minor vignetting. the Lee system is the most robust and configurable holders around. mine is set up to hold a max of two filters.
the problem with the Z Pro holder is their adapter rings still hold the holder assy too far foward from the front element and invite earlier vignetting.
the SWA adapter ring is folded back and allows a few more millimeters of clearance

now i have 2 filter sizes 77 and 72 for my lenses. i only use the 77 and a stepdown ring on it because as the smaller lens gives more angular clearance. hence less apt to vignette
