p.1 #1 · Where to shoot in Tokyo ?

Will be traveling to Tokyo and Nogoya Japan at the end of October. Wondering if anyone had any good locations to shoot in Tokyo? Looking more for the cityscapes rather then the temples and geisha girls ! Any night time roof top access spots ? Good intersections ?

Thanks in advance

Genza district is always booming and offers streets shots and the skyscrapers with plethora of signs. Don't remember the street but I liked the corner by the Sony Showroom. I believe the main Genza District subway stop is at that intersection.

Akihabara is the electronics district. Genza is elegant. Akihabara is anime' and electronics gadgets. You have to go to Yodo Bashi Camera in Akihabara. 8 floors of electronics, one dedicated to photography. There are multiple Yodo Bashi outlets but that is the best.

Shinjuku is another skyline area. Ueno Park is nice and should have great color in October. I forget the area but there is a small Statue of Liberty replica on near the river. From there you can take a nice dusk shot of the skyline with the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower. It's not on the subway. You have to take a small dedicated train line to get there. You can google all of the above spots.

Japan is such an interesting city... so different from the US. Just keep your eyes open... there is stuff to photograph everywhere. See if you can get to the top of one of the tall buildings... the cityscape is gorgeous. And get up early for the Fish Market too... that is great!

Have a great trip!

A great place to go is called Odaiba.

Also, if you want to shoot something very interesting, then Harajuku on Sunday morning early afternoon is another place

and of course, you have Roppongi:

If you wanna take photos of cosplayers, weekend go to Harajuku.

For seafood, go to Tsukiji fish market around dawn.

Ghibli Museum, Edo Tokyo museum are a couple of places you should go to. I think there's a sumo museum nearby as well.

I heard the best looking shrine is the Meiji jingu though I've never been there. As for temple, you have to visit Sensou-ji in Asakusa where you can find rickshaw pulled by a man as well as the famous Kaminari mon and the nakamise douri.

Ueno is also a must to visit. the Ameyoko market is simply awesome!! I personally love that place, then there's also the Ueno park with a few museums and a lake and some old shrine plus a zoo.

Also don't forget the Emperor's castle as well.

Plenty of places you can visit, the question is do you have enough time to visit them?

As already mentioned, the fish market is a must. Don't forget too, the many temples around Tokyo which offer many opportunities for some great photography.

I never made it to the fish market. A big regret

I definitely plan to get back there.
