I thought that I would start the ball rolling on the discussion of the pluses/minuses of the new Canon Professional Services program being offered. The email went out last night, and the details are posted at: www.usa.canon.com/cps
I'm interested in what the pros here feel about the structure/fees.

Yeah .... just read my email. That $500 fee is pretty hefty, and a surprise. The other surprise is the $100 fee for services I now get free. But I think they're both worth it ... and understandable from a business point of view (meaning, looking at things through Canon's eyes).
The benefits I've received so far from being a CPS member are substantial, and the service I've gotten from the Jamesburg facility has been consistently excellent. The fact that it's been free is quite incredible. I guess the old saying proves true here: "All good things must come to an end."
The only bummer is having to reapply. Putting together the support materials and all those samples in a professional way takes time.
As far as I am concerned, CPS has provided me with consistently impeccable service and the value that they add to my products is easily worth the $100 or even $500 to get it.
Look at borrowing a 1Ds III ($603+ shipping) or a 400 f2.8 IS ($390+ shipping) for a say 10 days and try to tell me you have been getting a raw deal all these years.
