Am I correct in thinking that the 5D mark II has almost exactly the same pixel size as the 30D? If so then I will be very happy as I know what to expect resolution-wise from my lenses. I was initially a little worried as smaller pixels would demand sharper glass but if the pixel size is the same as what I am used to then I have nothing to worry about :o)
erm - that is not what I am asking. I am aware of brainiacs method to test and agree. I am asking about the pixel size though so when I compare 100% crops I can expect virtually no change (if they are similarly sized)
To answer the OP's question, yes the pixel density on the 5D2 is about the same as the 30D. Sharpness wise, it should be the same in the center (assuming we omit the effects of the AA filter), however in the edges of the frame of the 5D2, you might have sharpness issues since the 5D2 will be capturing a portion of the frame that was ommited by the 30D, and its a portion where sharpness is reduced for most lenses.

Yes I thought that might be the issue. Thanks for the response
