Mel, the second one is the movie production Reverie. Impressive and they also show how the camera was cropped on automoble plus more in other video's. Perhaps you need to go canon direct site. Cheers

Pardon the stupid post but what's the current best guess/rumor for the shipping date of the 5D II? I sold my 1ds Mark II just a tad early...argh!
I have no idea, but I feel for you. Last year I sold my 1DsII and waited 2 months for a 1DsIII. This year I did not sell my 5D ahead of the 5DII but in the mean time it appears the bottom has fallen out of the 5D market:

I think you're over-exagerating. I wouldn't say the 'bottom has dropped out' on the used 5D Market, judging from those prices and how long the camera has been around.

I did the same last year for a mkIII, was cameraless for too long, had to buy a used body again to hold me over.
Lesson learned, dont sell until new one is in hand.

Man...I bought 1Ds MKII to upgrade from 5D.
Is 1Ds MKII to 5DII considered as an upgrade?
I'm confused....
21 megapixels, improved sensor technology, 14-bit, Digic IV, self-cleaning sensor, 3" VGA screen, live view, AF micro-adjust, HD video, etc, ..... would make it a definite Yes. The 1Ds II and 5D are both old technology.

my reasons for selling the 1ds mark II were due to the size and weight of the 1ds..Also for traveling the 1ds called a bit too much attention to itself..not that it mattered all that much.
I prefer the interface of the 50D and 5D II over the 1ds but all that being said, I probably should have waited as I sold my almost new 1ds very cheap and getting one that new for the price is not going to be easy.
The 1 series quality is undeniable and I miss it already.
I make large prints and the larger file size is something I am looking foward to..

If so, Canon sure fooled everyone who spent $8000 just about less than 2 years ago.
Canon USA spokesman Chuck Westfall calls the 5d2 quality the best Canon currently offers of any camera. But there are other reasons one might prefer a 1-series camera.

I believe it is the .jpg that are better in a comment from Chuck he stated that the RAW files are virtually indistinguishable.

I believe by indistinguishable Chuck was referring to the difference between 5DMK2 and 1DsMK3 files. Paul was asking about comparing 5DMK2 to a 1dsMK2 file.
For those that cannot wait my suggestion would be to compare the output from a camera in question and 1DsMK3. That should give a reasonable approximation of the 5DMK2. However, noise levels and low light performance may not match.

Canon fooled no one. That's progress. Most products that depend on electronics will improve to the point (often, rapidly) where a much less expensive model will outperform a much more expensive one.
Look to the computers you use.
But the 1Ds mkII still has some advantages. It depends on which features are more important to you. The IQ of the 1Ds mkII is still pretty damn good!
I noticed that J&R has now taken the 5D2 off of their site. I guess that they picked up to many orders. Since I have one on backorder from them, I've sent them an email about the status ... won't hear back until Monday.
I don't regret getting 1Ds MKII instead of 5DMKII.
Even if we consider the rapid depreciation value of any electronics, I think what was $8000 about 1 1/2 years ago cost now $2500 used, not to mention that there will be a camera that cost some $2700 will beat its quality.
I'm saying, then, 1-series camera was way over-priced to begin with.

They sure didn't fool me, and I bought all three of their 1Ds series at the time. If I wanted something that would keep value and didn't become obsolete anytime soon, I'd find a different hobby. I am thrilled that my new $2700 camera soon will match my $8k camera.

Yes and No. Personally I think the 1Ds is way overpriced (compared to the 5D) but Canon had no competition then and they could charge anything they want, since they were the only ones offering full-frame DSLRs - so if you want the top-of-the-line FF body (and there are a lot of people who do) you will have no choice but to pay whatever price Canon think they can get away with. I mean, when they released the 1Ds Mk III, they were still able to charge $8,000 for it as they still had no competition .... until this last quarter.

I was at the Photo plus expo in NY last week and got to play around with the 5d2. The canon reps would not allow anyone to put a media card in it, saying it was strictly a pre production model. By saying that, I would hope they are tweaking the specs up. The reps said, even they do not know the quality and specs of video. I had asked them if a still frame could be pulled out of the video footage and how big the file would be. He answered by saying it may be around 2 megs.
