The moon comment I think sums it all up (because people can't normally see the moon without a lens... of course)...

Or if you've been asked by a totally random mother, "did you get a picture of my daughter?"

Overheard:

He only gets the better shots because he has a cheater lens.

I know how to get the photo's off his site for free!

I wished he'd give me the photo's he takes of me. Why do we have to pay for them?

One guy even had the guts to come up to me and said: "You made my son the talk of his friends with those start photo's, he put them on his cell phone to show everyone. Maybe I should buy some of them." To my surprise, 3 days later he did buy the prints!

2) When some hockey moms sitting in the concession sipping hot chocolate point and laugh at you for doing the above.

You are focused on the play at home, when a kid hits a hard line-drive to second base and the second baseman makes a fantastic diving catch and the coach and parents come running over and ask "did you get a shot of that?"

Seems to happen all the time.............

...You get a phone call from a mom refusing to pay your price for pictures when she can get prints at Wal-Mart for $0.18 a piece.

The phone call went something like this:

Mom - I shouldn't have to pay that amount for pictures when Wal-Mart is so much cheaper. Why don't you just email me the photos and I will take them to be printed there?

Me - Ummm, I am sorry, but the cost of the photo is not solely the cost of printing it. There is my time, the equipment,...

Mom - Well I shouldn't have to pay for all of that stuff. I just want my son's pictures. They ARE pictures of my son, so those pictures should be mine.

On another note, I took some great pictures of Mt. Rainier this summer. I guess that mountain should now be mine.

+1 ... had a mom ask me if I was going to sell prints for 35 cents each like one of the players grandfather did in the past ... she was very disappointed with my response ... guess grandpa didn't have any overhead .... unfortunately I do.

... when you cover your back focus finger blisters with gaffers tape.

... when you convince your wife that your love life will be so much better if she allows you to photograph it....

The moon one cracks me up ... why oh why do they ask that one all the time? It's the freakin moon ... can't you see it just fine with the lens of your eyeball?

Also the other night I caught myself thinking to myself ... "Oh this is nice, the away team's uniforms are a nice neutral middle grey" - seems like only a photog would think of something like that.

It amazes me how many people talk about you, three feet away from you and seem to think you can't hear them. As for the moon comment, I got that one too, and all I was carrying was my 70-200VR
