This fruit is growing in our back yard on vines that reach over 20 feet tall. They are a close relative of cucumbers and some people call them wild cucumber, but I find that a misnomer because they aren't something you would really like to eat. I prefer the more descriptive porcupine egg name. If you want to learn more about them, here is a link from what I think is a good column about this fruit:
Nicely done and what an unusual fruit. Never seen that before. Not easy to get that exposure and not lose the texture.
So not only a good shot but educational as well.
