What is the obsession with VR? I shoot weddings almost every weekend and I get consistently sharp images from 14mm to 85mm.

Even in low light VR wont help you get sharp images especially when the subject is moving. At ISO 6400 @ f1.4 on my 50 or 85 I can't get sharp images sometimes since the shutter speed is 1/60 and my subject is moving.

You can appreciate VR on longer lenses. That I can agree with. The only lens I see that needs VR is the 85 f1.4 (it will make the lens really great).

I say it needs a wind-up crank. A nice fold-out wind-up crank. A few cranks should give enough juice for a good 300-400 RAW shots

Perfect for those times when I am in the jungle or desert.

Now let's be fair, if you can have your 85mm with VR then a 50mm VR is fair to the OP as well

The 50mm will be great too with it too by the same token.

If Nikon wants to throw VR on a 18-55 or a 16-85mm then fine if it wants to throw it on a 50mm as well. I want VR on my tripod!

I would like it if it had the d300 sensor, i want to switch to a probody after getting my grip, but the ff D3 makes me either need to permanently attach a 1.4x tele on the cam of invest a ton in glass since i primarily shoot wildlife. The D2x is my logical choice but the high iso performance is out done by the D300

I mean while we are making camera's up we might as well dream.

Maybe the D4h will have a 16mp ff and a 12.4 1.5 high speed crop area

I like SEJohnson83 idea....lets just do a new 70-200mm VR-CF a lens with a CF-card built right in....no need for the body anymore...anything you see thru the lens...you just snap a picture....(Oh...sorry all worng thred..shoud post this on the sony thred...I think they already tried that)... :-)

(Have to keep the VR thing going)

Jack, I might need to correct myself that the 85 MIGHT need VR. I think most of us who owns the lens are OK with IQ

I think all of your problems will be solved with a built in tripod + sensor VR + lens VR + Auto Pilot. All you have to do to take a great picture is NOTHING. Sweet! I will shoot weddings for $200 a pop.

That's what they said when autofocus came around and my friend recently dropped $5000 on a wedding photographer. They would have loved that $200 deal

I only need 4-stops VR on each tripod leg
