p.1 #1 · 2 quick Tamron 70-200 f2.8 Samples | |
Well I know after my review last week a number of folks wanted samples from this lens. Or like one poster said "this post is worthless without sample pics". Now bear in mind these are purposefully not clinical by any means. The canyon stream scene was a Jpeg from a D700 and the flower was shot NEF and converted to a Jpeg in CS3 using ACR 4.5. Before you tear the pics apart keep that in mind...I fully realized while they may not be in any way technically excellent, I find them compelling in that they relay the fact this Tamron lens has great color tonality and contrast, while also providing a useful "macro" on the fly application as well. Both shots were taken wide open (while I most certainly would NOT do that under most circumstances other than for effect). The Bokeh and color on the flower, to me, is stunning and most useful for such applications. The size if that flower by the way is perhaps an inch and was blowing in the wind, an even more challenging shot. I'm more pleased with the lens the more I use it. Focus speed in decent light is near instant and only degrades in poor light. It's no focus speed demon as compared to a 70-200 f2.8vr as I had one and know. But far less than half the price it offers a wonderful alternative to those that want a wide aperture 70-200 lens and perhaps don't shoot late afternoon and evening sports.
