It is interesting watching the current 5D's price dropping. There are a few site's selling them for <2000 now.

When the 5D was introduced, Brian Worley, product manager of DSLR cameras at Canon Europa, stated that Canon's future intention was that every camera in its line "except the cheapest" would have a 24x36 sensor.

And I agree completely about a quick purchase, maybe in time for Christmas, if they do price it in that range. Thank goodness I can run it through my business as an expense, too!

Do we really need more then 24MP? Seriously? At some point MP will not matter anymore. I think you are dreaming about the 1Ds4.

Do we really need cars driving 150mph? Seriously? At some point speed will not matter anymore. I think I am dreaming about a Ferrari anyway.

Concerning me 16-18MP would be enough. For now and the next couple of years.
But if 24 MP or more are offered my "small" 5D2 would be available cheaper :-) than if not.

Yeah FF 12.7mp native iso 6400, 5fps in a mark3 body.. for the price of the current 1d Mark3...

I am not a Nikon fan but I can tell you that Nikon has a lot of tricks up their sleeves. Look at the rapid-fire release of the D300, D3, D700 and D90. For sure, we will see one more body next month, and another in February. Nikon is back with a vengeance, and they will continue to be very aggressive in the coming months. Which is all good, as this forces Canon to be on their toes and be very competitive, and this one-upmanship battle will continue for some time.
