So weather "resistant" a la 50D. In other words, not weather-sealed.

It looks like Canon just gave an incremental improvement for $2500. They haven't felt the pain yet from Nikon, but will in a year.

Too long to wait! I sold my 5D last week so I guess it will be the Sony A900 for me in a few weeks.

well thats too bad for YOU. cuz this camera is exactly what i want. a DSLR that delivers a match in the high ISO benchmark set by the D3 with nearly twice the pixels.

So do you think the bottom will fall out on the current 5D prices? I am between a 5D and a D700, but unless the 5D MkII is around $2,000 I won't even consider it.

Ah, give it six months of it not selling as well as it would have done had they beefed up the AF a bit ;o)

Ok, I have to admit a few things:

50d = af micro adjust? 5d mkII? Not so much.. why?
"upgraded weather sealing" means?

can't wait for the first hands on previews

I suspect and hope that the image quality and noise/iso-quality will be great! I hope that improved weather sealing means that I can take it with me a few places i did not dare bring my 30d :P

It said something like improved sealing on the site but I don't understand what the problem is with not giving good weather sealing. It isn't that hard to do. I am glad they kept the print function. Yes, I actually use it in my field work as a visual anthropologist and I don't see that it hurts for those who don't use it. Maybe a custom function to change it if it would be a better function for something else if needed.

I do look forward to it. In the field the 5D has held up fine and I put it through some torture tests. Now with the added resolution and other improvements it all looks good to me.
