p.1 #1 · LensWork toning

Aniyone here familiar with the Lens Work publications (bimonthly periodical, extended version on DVD)?
Great BW images all of which are presented with a subtle, warm, faintly brown tone. I love the toning!
My question:
Anyone know what toning is used?
How to measure/define it?
I do not have a spectrometer.
Thought of opening an image on DVD, attempting to copy it in some way, opening PS and running an eyedropper over it to get RGB values over several areas.
Other thoughts or info?

Scott ... there is training in the Chris Orwig Photoshop tutorials (Deke McClelland also covers this, but it is in this most advanced training and is probably too advanced for most users) over on lynda.com that will show you how to tone an image with a density mask. This will give you superior results. Color won't be an issue once you understand how to do professional toning. Picking up and applying their colors can also be done by just sampling the color.

Good luck,
Bill.
