Faster to acquire focus ? Focus lock stability ? Sensitivity ? Accuracy ?
"Faster" alone does not mean heck of a lot to me.
My 40D in Servo AF is faster than my 20D when acquiring focus. Yet, 40D misfocuses more often.
OK then, here's my quick translation (Swedish is my native language):
This is my translation:
Using one shot mode, I set the focus of my 300/2.8 IS to infinity, aimed the camera at the gravel 3 meters away and pressed the shutter button. I repeated the procedure with different subjects that were near the closest focusing distance, and it nailed the focus lightning quick every time. Surprisingly fast, I must add.
I also tested the camera with the 70-200/2.8 zoom, and let it focus continuously (I assume he means AI Servo - translator's comment) using both lenses while I very quickly panned from the beach 200 meters away on the other side of the water to the surface just a few meters in front of me. The focus was never lost.
He goes on to mention that he repeated the tests using a 1D MkIII. The 50D was noticably faster, and it most likely has the quickest autofocus of any digital camera.
