What application is best to use on a Mac in order to take time lapse images in order to create a HD time lapse movie?

I would like to create this time lapse movie of the fog here in the San Francisco Bay area. That you can see from the 280 rolling over the hills at the end of each afternoon. A specially this time of year its very dramatic.

Bought a Vixia HF10 camcorder but could not find this time-lapse function on the camera

Thats why I would like to do it with my 5D hopefully ending up with some awesome footage ;-)

EOS Utility. You plug in the interval and it'll snap away on schedule.

Whoops, forgot it's sort of hidden away!

Click the stopwatch button (farthest right, underneath the +3 on the exposure scale) in the camera control window. You should be able to set up your time lapse ("Interval Shooting" or similar) from there.

If you have a TI calculator and its link cable, instructables.com has a neat article on how to use it as an intervalometer to take time-lapse sequences. See it here. No need to take the laptop!

I just can't find it. Do you mean that little green button with the clockwise circle arrow located above blue button with the camera

It doesn't work...

Within the square display with all the settings there is nothing below the exposure correction scale..

I have done a couple of simple timelapse movies using the 5D and 20D and the TC 80N3 timer remote release. Then combined the individual images using Quicktime Pro. Be advised .... use a small quality jpeg.... the movies are massive if ye use anything higher. I made one that was about 20 sec's long and it ended up over 1GB before compression...!

Yes the TC 80N3 or its alternatives that can be found on Ebay are the most convenient solution.
With regards to the file size, that's an other topic. Still want to end up with HD quality footage. First need the basics up and running than worry about the rest. The Fog will come back, every day ;-)
