Rayder Offline Image Upload: Off p.1 #1 · Changing color profile in Nikon Capture NX2 I understand that when you shoot RAW, the color space you choose doesn't matter. However, when I open a RAW file in NX2, it opens in sRGB mode. How do I change it to Adobe 1998 or some other space? Do I use Apply Profile or Convert Profile? And what's the best space? Many thanks! tomm101 Offline Image Upload: Off p.1 #2 · Changing color profile in Nikon Capture NX2 If you are using NX you should change the color space in the camera. It is a read the manual thing. You can also change this in NX, just don't accept the defaults. Unfortunately by opening the file in sRGB, that is the lowest common denominator and trying to change the image gamut won't work, you have already lost those colors. An sRGB image changed to aRGB will just be an sRGB image. This is the advantage in opening in a larger color space, then dropping to sRGB just truncates the colors space and will be an sRGB image. However, note that this is a RAW file so (unless I'm seriously mistaken) you can't lose info by opening it. In other words, you can't have a different space for each image you open? Btw, which is the best space to use for opening and manipulating RAW files?
