Agreed....it is definitely a job for Canon, looking to see if anybody has had the issue and what the Canon repair consisted of.
Boy that was quick! No offense, but I wonder why one would even bother to post something on a forum like this if, after only two responses to your thread, you've decided to send it to Canon. I'd suggest send it to Canon.
Otherwise, I would have agreed Sakane and asked if you are getting these same results with another CF card. This looks much more like a corrupt memory card than something wrong with the camera. And ZA's suggestions to take some other steps before sending it in is good advice, too. But, I guess you're sending it in. Good luck.
Be sure to come back and let us know what Canon says.
In my original post I stated" Has anybody experienced this problem?" I never asked what anybody thought was the problem.
I was posting to find others with the same issue, and when it was repaired by Canon, what did they replace.
I've made the same post on other forums and received the same advice, but have not found anybody that has had this same problem. So I guess I am the lucky one to find a new problem with a 1D MKII.
I have tested both CF and SD cards, multiple ones. It shows up in processed tiffs and jpegs, and the battery has been in and out several times, as well as reseting the camera. When I get the camera back form Canon I will be sure to share the results, for anybody who has a camera take a dump like this one.
