Twistedimg Offline Image Upload: Off p.1 #1 · Opinions wanted on my website... I'm doin a simple quick redesign. Here is what I have as far as a layout/gallery: http://www.jacobcarroll.com/test.htm First of all, what do you think? I'm keepin it simple and just want something clean. And second, should I make the page with the gallery the index page that the site opens on or should I keep it as the "gallery" page and make the index page something more like a small self portrait with a little welcome message? jcolman Offline Buy and Sell: On p.1 #2 · Opinions wanted on my website... Looks fine to me. I personally like a small index page with a link to different galleries. One thing I would change on your picture line up is that the first pic of the young lady isn't very flattering. I prefer the shot of the lady leaning on the railing better or the couple on the beach (after you straighten the horizon and crop out the boat on the far right) but that's just my opinion. I think the design itself looks fine, though I'd prefer to see an entirely-black page rather than a black slideshow app bordered by grey. Most importantly, though, I think you need to separate out your work into different galleries. Someone coming to you looking for a wedding or portrait photographer doesn't want to see landscapes and vice versa. Always do whatever you can to show a prospective client just the imagery that's relevant to them, as the irrelevant images can actually keep you from getting the job - think of a portfolio viewing as only having three strikes available, and everytime a viewer gets to an image they don't like or isn't relevant to them you get a strike against you...three strikes and they close your book or site. Steve Ickes Offline Buy and Sell: On p.1 #4 · Opinions wanted on my website... I like the overall feel. Looks clean, nice font that fits the site. The only thing I would change is to have a few images running in a slideshow without the thumbnails for the index page. IMO it would clean it up a bit. Save the thumbnails for the galleries. This is probably the most important aspect that needs to change and will make the site completely better IMO. It really helps separates all your work. I was overwhelmed with huge lot of pictures that I just stop looking at it. You have different portfolios for different clients/different galleries for different web images. Yeh dont have to write a whole book but a lil about you and why yer putting this website up would be a good idea. The home page I would put an actual picture of something on it. To my eye it looks a lil plain. There isnt a real good reason to put a home link since there isnt anything to see there. updates unless yeh actual plan on doing updates on a regular basis I would get rid of this.
