thankyou for the compliment doug .,
when i took those three photographs i was using the 400D and the 100mm 2.8 macro lens .. no added extension tubes or anything ..
the robberfly settings were .. Aperture: f6.3 .. ISO: 100 .. Shutter: 1/80 - hand held
the dragonfly eating the fly were .. Aperture: f6.3 .. ISO: 200 .. Shutter: 1/320 - hand held
the extreme close-up of the dragonfly were .. f7.1 .. ISO 100 .. 1/160 - hand held .. that image was also scaled up about 300% from the original photograph ..
i've now upgraded to the 40D and often use the speedlite 580EXII .. but those shots were all taken in natural light ..
Spectacular. Even captured the texture in his elbow on #1. So sharp and clear. Love the colors as well. Just don't know how you convinced them to hold still long enough!
Superb shots! great light in all of them but the dragonfly shot got the prize. The composition is really good and the orange backround is just gorgeous.
