Ant you did real well with these, I waited to get home so that I could see them better. 1&4 for me, 1 wins out becase 4 looks overcooked and the center is out of focus but other than those nits I love the shot.

You really got to get off the self defacing titles shtick dude.

Appreciate the kind words Martin...... I did try to apply myelf on these as I"m not a floral guy per say. Took some changing of thought process and the weather conditions were a real bear. So took more thought and trial and error. It was a fun excersize !!

Hey Thanks Tim. Glad you liked them. If you read the beginning of the post you'll see that wind and fog were a real problem. So I was pretty limited with aperture to keep SS up. I used flash on all shots but I was pretty maxed out on everything to keep the shutter up. Glad you liked a few of them. I think I'll pick a sunnier day to try again. It's a long drive just for flowers

Excuse me a second while I comment on your title. Dick Gregory made a comment concerning the meaning of "massacre". He mentioned that while in the struggle of our Native Americans against the "white eyes", when the Cavalry won it was a great victory and when the Indians won it was a massacre.
For your subject title I propose this; "When Ant photographs a subject he massacres the external influences(wind, clouds, fog..et al) exerted upon his subject to create a work of art!" How's that

Thanks Dan, I knew he messed up that title! Based on this title my worthless review as follows:

#1 Great color depth, non-existent feel of flash, love the form of this flower,the light streak in the BG actually seems to be a beam from the flower, nice touch Ant
#2 Pretty if I can say that to you, Cosmo flower, great rich pink and yellow only slightly suffering from the oof foreground petals
#3 All the right efforts made, just the subject and BG doesn't please me on this one
#4 Flash looks good, gave good form to these petals, pretty flower, would like to see a slightly tighter crop on the top.
#5 Again a pretty cosmo, perhaps just a slight backing off to see the whole flower and let the green support it

Processing is wonderful, pleasing and not overdone IMO which is worthless. It would have been easy to say these are great, that they are, just the little nits for what they are worth to someone who called this a 'massacre'
