Anthony, are you still here? If so, here's my take: #1 is beautiful, #2 is fantastic - I really like the blur in this one. The other blurs...not so much, but that's very subjective. Butterflies are beautiful. You've put together an outstanding series. Now if you could lose those garish frames - egad man, lime green frames Basic black is nice, don't you think Now here's the thing about exif data: If viewers like your stuff, they might look for the exif data. If they don't like your stuff, they won't bother looking. Someone here took a peek, which means they like what they see! You can head on over to DPForum now. I hear there are nice people over there. ...Show more →
thanks for adding some sanity to my post Maggie. You my dear lady may be the only sane one here
Your right about the objectiveness of the Blurs. I think it's a matter of taste! If you like my blurs you have taste >> if you dont'...... Well then
Well based on your comments about exif data >> Why did anyone look at mine? I don't get it I strip it out of my photos cause I like em to be fresh and sassy without it.
The Frames: Well I tried to take color from the BG and use that as the frame color............. Think the green may have been a bit much myself ...... But hey, I dare to be a trend setter ............ Lime Kiwi Green for everyone now
OK back to my new friends over at DP Now
They are treating me son nice over there......... I was just voted photographer of the day

Oh Maggie, I am going to miss him, I sure don't have time to visit DP, Chad is funnier anyhow and not so darn sensitive either
Karl
Karl, let's ask Dave to make him a bon voyage card and be done with it.
Poor Anthony, we'll miss him...sort of. I wonder if Chad can keep us entertained. Hmmm, we should conduct tryouts, open auditions, interviews...
Obviously, everybody who takes a photograph and looks at a photograph brings his or her own aesthetic to the party.
Three blurred wing shots don't work for me. Choose one - the best one - and post that. Three "unusual" shots in a row become "usual."
6-9 to me lack DOF. Are the thoraxes of the butterflies in 6 & 7 covered with scales or fur? Are the wings scaly or furry? Or both? You've omitted that information from the shot, and that information is easiest to capture in a wing profile shot ("easiest" without being "easy"). 8 is a different challenge altogether. The sharp in-focus legs against the OOF wings against the even more OOF BG - well, you know where I'm headed -
#9 looks like it's focused on the beak and you tried to sharpen the eye - would have been better, IMO, if you'd focused at the nostril and used DOF to bring the beak and eye into focus.
These are simply my aesthetics, and should not be taken as criticisms of the work. Technically, in terms of framing, color, composition, they're all very well executed wide aperture shots.
Dude, have the courage of your work. Stop calling it "maybe crap" -
Oh, I'm with Dave He nailed that review buddy Lovely BCNH Mr Ant, that is just fine! Butter blurs are very interesting in a good way, the sharp eye makes them work for me and the wing blur is daring, different and pretty cool! Now #6, how big can you print that one, nailed it good Anthony, that is stunning! Head on shot of the butt.zz is a good one. I struggled today with mine, you will see Looks like you got your butt.zz going good, any flowers in que?? Nice shooting and creativity, how did you shoot those blurs? Karl...Show more →
Well Karl >> I have no idea what Dave's review is........ I'm still scratching my head on that one........ But I think it's bad
The Butterfly Blur shots were an idea I had related to Hummer shots with wing blur. I've never seen any shots posted like this, but thought I'd give it a try. I didn't think I came out with anything worth keeping > Was surprised to find these 4 shots out of about 300 that were good IMHO.
Anthony, like the heron, hate the perch, love the look of the bird, technically well done it's just that damn perch. 8 is my favorite by far. 7 you are loosing sharpness on the wing a tad otherwise love the shot. Like a fool I looked at the exif to see the setup! Remember, on the count of 3 let's get out of this....... Nice try on the blurs, I could see why you may be happy with it or not sure. I'm sure, its not for me but hey I didn't think you shot that for me. Tim
Sorry you didn't like the perch >> I really like it
EXIF ?? ...... Yes you should have known better my friend
Not only a nice try on the blurs >> I came out with what I wanted. Wing Blurs and eyes in focus and that was my goal. Have you ever seen shots like this posted before?? I thought it was a very creative idea Sorry you didn't like them as I think I killed my shutter life trying to get a few

Well first off I like the wing blurs. I don't hear anyone complaining that Hummer shots with wings in blur is a 1 shot or nothing deal. Why is this any different? When you watch butterflys fly do you see there wings like a birds?? NO !! So I posted the 4 that I was happy with and that had good in focus eyes.......
If you looked at the link to the previous post you would have read that it was a dim lit building > The time of day and Marine layer didn't help any either. But light was a problem for me and I had to keep my aperture lower than what I would have liked to in an attempt to keep the shutter speed up. So DOF wasn't perfect due to conditions.
Number 9 is in perfect focus and the Focus point was between the eye and the beak. the eye is actually in perfect focus looking at the raw file. I think it's just the angle / light / downsizing. I did very little sharpening and NO selective sharpening to the shot. In fact I did two global USM at 100 / 0.4 / 0 So it's definitely not over sharpened.
As far as the "Crap" thing goes....... It's not that I don't have confidence in my captures..... I do and these shots ROCK Dude!!! It's more that Opinions are our own. And all / any image is subjective to the viewer and each person brings their own point of views / likes / dislikes / taste. I can only display images that I find pleasing and that I like. It's up to the viewer to make up their own mind as to whether they like the shot or not. As photographers it would be wonderful to take 100% images that everyone will like. But that aint happening until they start Cloning me and I am 100% of the population. Wouldn't a planet of Anthony be fantastic !!
Is this when I start reviewing in Swedish I can do Swedish, English, French & Spanish as in Catalan. - - -Any preference OK - - I seem to remember that # 6 & 7 are my top picks. But - - it got lost in the translation. Lil
thanks Lil glad you liked a few of them. It's rather obvious by the comments that my vision of Butter B's in flight isn't a smashing Hit like I thought it would be. Shot's I was very proud and excited about......... Can you say...... FLOP
Appreciate your comments and the translation came through fine
