sjms Offline Buy and Sell: On PC vs Mac User Poll you do realize that as macs become more popular that they too will become targets (and slowly are too). and no there is no built in superimmunity there. at this point just not as fun to do for the darkside because the overall kill is small. stability wise any system is what you make of it. i can kill a mac as fast as a windows setup and proven it in a matter od seconds. the results are just the same. the fact is is that at this point the most secure and stable is linux. the reason there is the same lack of caring for those who do what they do. there is no security that is written that cannot be breached with a little thought and effort. Ben, you didn't include a 'Both' option, which I would have selected. The above is more true than 99.9% of the mac community/fashionistas realize. Apple's success will breed problems that it's never had to face before. It will be interesting to see how it responds. As to the 'apple is more elegant/easier/better/simpler to use' argument... maybe it's because I actually know how to use wintel machines, but they're not really any more elegant/easier/better/simpler to use. If Microsoft included the drivers MILLIONS of peripherals it supports (as Apple does with the thousands that it supports), I'm sure this complaint would pretty much disappear. You are correct that it will change at some point when the popularity increases. That's one of the reasons why I bought my current macs just before they went to the intel based processors ---- I wanted to sit in the sidelines and watch what happened before jumping into the intel based computers. However, the percentage of Mac owners is quite high since we are dealing with the creative field here, where macs are more popular. I have started a second poll as well. I'm very well aware of that. However, as I stated in the first post, I'm trying to limit this just to Windows based machines, and OSX based machines since those are the majority of the users. Well, if we are running Linux or FreeBSD, we certainly aren't likely to be running a Mac, are we? I say "not likely", because I do have 1 Mac that I run Linux on. And to be honest, could say people with the new new macs just have a case now with the intel inside macs and are just PC's that run Apple OS's, but that would be mean. Tack on free bsd as a *nix collective and we'd have a full blown geek fight as all say they shouldn't be associated with the other.
