Fabulous shot, Jim, my friend! Bravo! It's good I don't generally enter the MA or I'd be disappointed that my shot can't compete with this.
By the way, if you have a chance, could you send me a list of the lighting gear you use? I am itching to get some good gear (whenever I get the money) and am always looking to get a good recommendation from someone who actually knows something.
Endre, I use Alien Bees for my own work. At work we have used Bogen, White Lightning (same person - Paul Buff - as AB), and Calumet. Of them all I still prefer my AB. They are small, light weight, and durable. Service is supposedly great with AB as well, but I have never had to seek any myself. Rather than go by someone else's list...I would just get a couple heads, heavy duty stands, and a handful of modifiers. Then you can add as needed. I also make modifiers, and other DIY things - like the barn doors on the AB head in the middle of this photo. It's just the standard reflector with four pieces of aluminum roof flashing riveted to hinges that are riveted to the reflector. Booms tend to break the quickest, and the simplest designs tend to be the best. BTW the FM lighting forum is a good source of info for all this + Paul Buff contributes there too. Thanks for the wonderful comments.
