On a comedic side note......I wonder what is going on in that driver's head that is sitting in the beater station wagon behind Victors car in the first shot, or the guy in the car to the left in the minivan on the second shot.

I wonder what their perception is.

Haha, the picture of the car was taken in the ferry, sure no traffic there!

The picture with me was taken when I was in the middle of the bridge when they stopped the traffic to move the bridge so a submarine could pass through the movable bridge. While I was taking picture of this:

one of the bystanders offered to take my picture, I am to polite to say no

I sold my beautiful Mustang Cobra convertible (550 horsepower!) this spring:

I used to get comments from the guys mostly.. it definitely left an impression, as much as I'd like to NOT admit that. I miss having a convertible and I miss that awesome exhaust sound.

I agree with Evan, however.. average car = no response. Anything outside the average will generate SOME response (either a real beater or a real expensive one).

BTW I took the money from the sale of the Mustang and bought a 5D, 24-70L and 300/2.8 IS

I guess I better push up my prices, as I drive a Landrover :-)

On the other hand, over this side of the pond I usually leave it hidden around the corner as it does'nt exactly say "snazzy" over here.

It's to acquire clients......having a snazzy car gives the public the perception that you are successful, hence possibly making them want to hire you as they perceive you to be GQ, stylish and successful.

The original post mentioned the car as part of a whole marketing package. Your website says $300 weddings. That landrover can't save you now.

Sorry to point it out Victor but I get 53mpg out of my Citroen C2.... no funny business just a small light car with a 1.4 petrol engine.

To be honest I don't think the car should make that much difference. So long as it's in a good state of repair and well kept. To be honest if somebody showed up as a photographer to me in a too over the top car I would discount them and be inclined to think that they're obviously charging too much money. I guess your car should be nice but probably not better than that of your potential clients.

ps. I think in the end I'd like to end up with a landrover defender for my photography, practical, study, good for the environment (in the end) and a bit of fun.

I just try to be sure that it's clean, waxed, and not rusting out. If I were a client, I would notice if the car/transportation was out of character with the prices being charged, but I would notice more if the vehicle was rusted or in poor repair.

Would I based my decision on this "image" opinion? Probably not, but I would notice and it would be in the back of my mind, considered or not.

I don't know what it's like in the USA but in the UK you can easily make the wrong impression in an expensive or sporty car.

If you want to be safe turn up in a Saab, Volvo or zippy city car like the new Fiat 500 or Panda.

The way I see it, an expensive, showy car makes it look like I'm bilking them out of money.

My very normal Chrysler Town and Country mini van just just normal enough to say that we're comfortable and have reliable transportation.

I don't care to say anything more with my car.
