Hi forestmage,
Do you have some samples at f/2 and f/2.8 as well?

Thank you for the Voigtländer Ultron 40 f2 SL II images forestmage. It did better than I expected - I have seen some not very flattering images from this lens earlier. But of course, most lenses can get provoked to produce ugliness.

You're welcome Jonas. I'm looking forward to doing more shooting with it, and I haven't tried out the little close up lens attachment that came with it yet. I'll post a sample of that when I do, perhaps tomorrow.

In your face is right...I think thats probably the worst bokeh I've ever seen!...And its very supprising given the ultra fast aperture.

Fantastic bokeh. Makes the image into something else. The guy is great anyway, and having this kind of bokeh makes the image itself really stand out.

I really like this bokeh, could use it for some effects, what is this lens exactly, and would I need to use on 1DsII ?

You like it...Thats the worst bokeh I've ever seen!!!

I think that is the most beautiful bokeh I have seen so far in this thread. I will try to get a hold of this lens now. I have the OM 50 1.2 and the Rokkor 58 1.2, and this is right up there with them.

I don't know...I can't stand all those ring highlights. I find the OM 55 f/1.2 bokeh terrible. The 58 f/1.2 isn't perfectly buttery, but it's very nice in 99% of situations, and I really like the character, but this is too much 'character' for my taste.

You could do it with rokkor the same, just focus on 0.6m and include in to the frame spot lights.

I´ll do that Dmitry! I think this kind of bokeh makes the image so rich, instead of just softening things out. Then again I am looking to buy the soft-bokeh Sigma 50/1.4 when I can be sure the AF issue has been sorted.

Here's a shot from one of my favorite portrait lenses, the Carl Zeiss Jenna 135mm f/3.5 MC. This little gem is quite sharp wide open, nice and contrasty, and gives some really nice bokeh.

I'm starting to agree with some of you here, that 'ugly' bokeh can add something unique and beautiful and rich when used right. These OM55/1.2 samples blow me away.

Forestmage, I'm not too keen on that Voigtlander bokeh, but I REALLY like the color. It's especially impressive compared to the otherwise excellent ZF 50 makro.

How is that lens with the "close up" adapter mounted?

You wouldnt expect it but the OOF highlights with the OM Zuiko 24/2.8 are actually quite pleasing

I had posted this before in another thread but here it is again, seeing as I didn't see a sample of the super multi coated Takumar 50mm f1.4 (wide open)
