What are you using to adapt the Pen F lenses to the G1? I'd like to see some 42/1.2 shots!

Hi,

I'm sorry for the late reply, I missed your post.
I use one end half of the parts of an extension tube set together with a C-mount->G1 adapter. It owrks fine. Recently eBay seller jinfinance announced a dedicated adapter.

The 42/1.2... yes, I wish I had one. You can find some samples in this thread over at GetDPI and also a slightly misfocused portrait furrther down in the same thread.

Is that some LoCA that I see? Still, I love the rendering. What's a 1.0L go for nowadays? Still in the $5K range?

I'm finding the smooth buttery bokeh of the Sigma 50 wide open to be too "blurry" sometimes. It seems to transition from sharp to blur in a flash. Too quickly perhaps?

That's the same reasoning I used to keep my Zuiko 50/1.2 or the Rokkor 58/1.2 I had. I also preferred the more natural color from the Zuiko.

Must be fun to shoot with.

Its a lot of fun, challenging, and frustrating especially at F1.0 the area in focus is so small, the softness and the glow that often appears at 1.0. It takes a very long time to get used to shooting it and learning the strengths and weaknesses and even then you hope 1 out 30 shots turn out okay. But I wouldn't sell it for anything. There maybe better lens out there for sharpness etc but this little baby has its own uniquess. This year I plan on doing more shooting with extension tubes and Infrared.

Thanks. There sure is. I was pondering last night while out shooting, if the new 1.2L when it was in the prototype stage if it was ever tested at 1.0 or 1.1 before they finally finsihed off and made it a 1.2. I also wondered if the front element had been increased to 77 or 82mm what difference that may have made.

I wonder, is it possible to make you post more images taken with the Coastal Optics 60mm macro?

The images seen here and in digitalloyd's review are so clear and free from aberrations... Santa told me I have behaved, but not USD 4.500 good, so now I have to save money myself to get it. I don't ask if the lens is worth it - I just would like to see images with busy backgrounds, maybe some highlights also, and learn more before committing myself to a long time on bread and water only. Oh, also; any flare problems?

I like the Rokkor's rendition better than the Canon's. Although of the three, the Lanthar's shot would be my pick as the best in the series.

Very quick, down and dirty shot with the Minolta Rokkor 35mm ƒ1.8 MD @1/100s ISO 100 Canon 5DMKII.

The lens is nicely sharp wide open and doesn't harass my mirror at infinity. Converted by the Latvian wizard, Dim.ka/Dmitry.

Focus errors are my doing, failing light and hand held and all that. The BG is monstrously busy but I feel it is well handled.
Will get out at the weekend hopefully to exploit the potential of this lens.

On the bright side they seem to be dropping in price again, Like the 200 1.8, Nikon 28 1.4 , Nikon 58 F1.2 it seems everyone wants one then prices skyrocket, then they start to edge down again. I notice that the Canon FD 24, 50 and 85L have increased in price at the used dealers. The 24L I have seen some priced at $1400, the 85L over $900. A year ago they could be had for $800 and $600 respectively. Between those that modify the mounts for EOS use and the G1 users the prices of these are starting to inflate astronomically high.

When the big IF happens I would say get ...... a lens that makes you happy.

Bobby I looked at your picts again and I like the color rendition of the FL, the smooth creamy bokeh of the Rokkor and the detail of the Voigtlander. Something good in all three. Do you have some more 55 FL to show?
