I am about to pull the trigger on either purchasing PW's or CS. Can we get a definite answer from Paul as to what they can handle in terms of FPS?

As well, has anyone used a Sekonic l-358 connected to a CS Transmitter to trigger a light? That would in effect replace the Sekonic RT-32 Pocket Wizard Module. Just bungee the Tx to the back of the light meter permanently.

Andrew - I just checked for you. In my unscientific test I set Cl to 3 FPS and they were all lit.. at 4 FPS, 5 FPS, and 6 FPS every other frame is lit.... so my guess is about 3 fps.

tech was d300 exosure was 1/250 and flash set to 1/64 so the flash should keep up with more than 4 fps.

How many fps does PW run?

Thanks Justin. I believe the PW's do 6-8fps. I will also be running a D300 for the time being, moving on to a D700 or 5D MKII soon depending on what happens with the market over the next 6-10 months.

I can only really think of one instance where I would need more than 3fps, i.e. shooting a runner light by a strobe and stitching the frames together. Anyone else with some thoughts on potential situations?

man you gotta have some serious power to reload 6-8 FPS!!! Ill go back and re-do my test and see if i missed something. IM sure PCB will chime in soon.

edti:
re did it --- yea I think its 3 fps.... unless the watch battery in my transmitter is beat.

Thanks man. I'm going to order up two triggers and two receivers.. I'm using two AB400's, SB28 and a SB600.

I am hoping to just attach a CST to the back of my Sekonic L358 to trigger the lights. I'll get a photoslave for the SB600.

Paul indicated on their forum that they may actually up them to 10fps in the future. Lets hope there will be an upgrade option for users just purchasing cybersyncs.. *cough

I just bought an ST-E2 and am thinking of returning it for radio slaves..should I get these or skyports?

I might just get the skyports since they have them at Calumet, and as noone has these Cybersyncs in stock anwhere in NY.

thank you soo much for the pictures
Paul should give you credits for future purchases !

Ok, is there any thing on the reverse side of the receivers ?
I am kinda of thinking how you mount them if you are using with the
hotshoe flash....

Looks like there is some hole on the side of the transmitter
I take it its the PC cord or radio jack thing.

thanks all the same

Edgar they never ever will. Alien Bee company only sells direct to the public. You have to buy from their website at www.alienbees.com

Still can't see confirmation of a PC Cord jack on the transmitter so I can fire using just a pc cord while I have a flash unit on the hotshoe.

If future versions have the ability to control power for multiple units from the transmitter then Alien Bees will be continuing to make more money out of me!

your welcome

nothing onthe reverse side, just flat plastic casing that holds the batteries in place.
If your using a hot shoe flash like I am, the receiver will just hang off the 1/8" jack.
Its not the best but they are pretty lightweight. Im looking for something to hold them in. Ill post if i find something worthy.

sorry Beni, if you look at the last pic on the page prior, you'll see a little hole -- that is, i believe a 1/8 mini jack port. the Tx mitter came with a PC to 1/8 jack but no PC to PC jack. I think flashzebra sells them for a few bucks. But to answer your question, yes on my D300 i can use the suppliePC to 1/8 mini and run a flash on the shoe, and fire the Cybercyncs via the pc plug on the front of the camera body.

Oooh nice, might replace my much battered but incredibly good chinese triggers (work incredibly well after being rewired by a friend of mine!). I think I'll wait for the forcast triggers with the ability to control output to different channels, that would be heaven for this location shooter.

paul buff has noted that they have no intention of venturing into the CLS/eTTL realm any time soon. so radiopoppers would be your only choice. Not sure if they are available or not. I know they are awful pricey though.

Nah, not ETTL, just interested in adjusting the power levels on my AB's from the camera without buying the wired remote.

I will do a few product shots of these come tuesday when they are delivered. I've got the feeling I should have ordered another CSR though.

You can trade CSR for CSRB any time during the 60 days if you like.

So, on a shoot the other day I had my 550ex attached to a cybersync, worked great for about 30 shots, then the flash stopped firing. It had new batteries and was ready to flash, the 'syncs (or camera) just wouldn't fire it unless I hit the Test button on the transmitter. I shut everything off, turned it back on and same thing, after about 50 shots the flash was ready to go but wouldn't fire....unless I hit the Test button.

Kinda got annoying after the second and third time, has anyone else had a similar experience? I don't know if it was the cybersyncs or my 20D that was messed up.

yes i did, when i first got them, contacted alien bee's they said cycle the battery in/out of the transmitter and if that didnt do it, send it back. Mine Tx did not duplicate after i reset the battery.

I received my two CST and CSR battery powered units last night. I'll have a full review, and unboxing within the next day or two.

Hey Everyone,
I posted a review of the CST and CSR battery powered units on my blog. I also included an unboxing video and a sekonic light meter hookup video. All of the photos of the units I did this evening.
