I believe that was before we found the close foil described above. The question is, did they perform OK with battery replacement - are they performing OK now? If not let us know. As I said, we have not seen any number of issues with this.

They perform wonderfully, but since it drained the first two sets of batteries I have been removing the batteries when not using them. I will put a set in now and see if they are dead womorrow. If so, I'll give customer service a call.

paul, im getting worried about the auto shut off one these receivers.
i did a shoot about 3 days ago.
when i went into my lighting case today, i saw that one of them were blinking.
it was not rubbing against anything.

i guess ill try to leave them on my desk and ill monitor them to see if they switch off like they are suppose to

We have never seen this. Is it possible the transmitter was resting against something with its test button pushed? This would cause the transmitter to fire periodically and this would keep refreshing the receiver(s). Problems like this tend to gang up on certain people - maybe you're one of them! We have had very few reports of problems - less than 1%.

BTW, we are making special switch buttons that will place the top of the test switches flush with the housing top so they aren't susceptible to being pressed accidentally in storage. But this will take a while as we have to make new molds.

paul, that is a good idea placing the on/off button on the top of the receiver.
i placed two of the four receivers on my desk and placed a timer for an hour.
ill let you know how it goes.

ill be going to europe next tues for 3 weeks.
so any testing after next tues will have to be done when i get back
thanks

so paul, took a nap and woke up to find that the receivers turned off.
perhaps the lid of my case was hitting the rec
strange thing is, the case has a super soft lining and i figured it couldnt press the button but yea that probably was it.

Just a quick follow up...

After much playing around, and actually using for a few shoots...I can say that I am VERY happy I did not spend the money on Pocket Wizards. These Cybersyncs are working flawlessly....not getting any misfires...and the range is superb.

Good job to all at Paul C. Buff for FINALLY bringing affordable, pro quality triggers to the market.

Next on my wish list is some Radio Poppers...wireless TTL sounds like a lot of fun. PWs be damned!

Quick question I already asked over at PoTN. Does anyone know if the 2.4GHz interferes with our 2.4 cordless phone or wifi or other devices in the 2.4 range? only thing holding me back over the PWs.

Thanks.

Same transceiver chip as Skyport. We have never seen an issue with WI FI or phones. In fact, I had 2.4GhZ phones in my house and they seriously interfere with my Apple Airport reception at 50', but never affected CyberSync at all - even at 350'.

One saving point is WI FI and phone use frequency hopping, while CS uses 16 switchable fixed frequencies.

Thanks Paul, that was quick and thorough. I think I'm sold on the CS now

We're using Skyports in an area with numerous Wi-Fi networks and 2.4Gz phones. No problems whatsoever.

Good luck.

I recieved my set the other day. I have to say the small size and the reliability is pretty good so far. I bought the battery powered recievers, and I wish there was some way to attach them easily to either the flash or the strobe. I guess I'll come up with a rubber band, bungy cord, or strap system. I'd hate to velcro them.

Received my transmitter and battery powered receiver yesterday, and they work great! I love the small size of the transmitter and it feels much lighter than those 2AA powered Pocketwizards.

I do have a few remarks, if I may...

1. I too wish the receivers had some strap system, I used velcro and it worked fine though.
2. The transmitter needs a pretty good amount of pressure to mount on the hotshoe of my 20D.. it's almost too tight.
3. I'd prefer the receivers to have an on/off switch, to preserve battery life, but that's a small detail.

Still, very glad I switched from PWs to CS.

One last thing.. for those thinking about importing them in Canada... Customs charged me a huge 61$ for import fees, for an order of 138$ !! That's just insane. Free-exchange my a**.

Has anyone found a resource for the hotshoe cord that works with the cybersync? I have it working with the PC cord and my 580 EX II, but can't use it yet with my 430 EX. Any suggestions?

Not sure if this was covered yet but.... Can I use my sb800 on camera in the hot shoe and connect the cybersync another way to trigger the strobe?

I would want to use the strobe as an extra filler at a reception and my sb800 as a direct flash for some shots.

attach the cybersync transmitter to the camera via the camera's PC connector.

Also for anyone wondering the cybersyncs will sync to 1/1000th on a 1D and 1/320th on a 20d. see this thread for a sample image from the 1D http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/682287

Good to have more options!

I have a brand-new $100 Pocket Wizzard EOS drive cord that only works 5% of the time and PW wouldn't warranty it...said I could have damaged it. (by taking it out of the zip-lock bag I guess)

So it looks like I'll be cutting off the wire (think it's bad at the plug) and soldering one from Radio Shack on myself. Nice, love to have to fix brand-new products.
