this one was hard as it was at the end of a long day and i don't perform well when shattered. used about a 3 second ex and ran around setting of a hand held flash gun to illuminate the bridal party. the grass is flouro like that from the light. no photoshopping.
"Yes, but more importantly, I betcha they are all shot with Nikons (since only Nikon can make camera able to take these shots)"

What? That's the most absurd thing I've read here in a long time. Mine were made with Canon equipment.

Whats your reasoning here?
Oh come on guys... there are some things that Canon do well, fast primes, full-frame sensors, high-res (1DsIII) but *everybody* knows that if you're shooting fireworks, you need a Nikon.

p.s. this is mine, but it's not very good because it was shot with a Pentax not a Nikon.
"Great shots guys. Keep them coming. Let's not dishonor our forefathers who gave their lives to give us this great America we know today by making this into another Canon vs Nikon thread. Let's celebrate this Fourth of July for America and symbolically for all other countries' Independence around the globe by showing us your Fireworks please! "
After seeing some of these amazing images, I was quite hesitant to post some of my attempts.
I won't post my pictures directly in this thread, as I feel they're not as impressive as the ones already posted. But I'll provide a link to my gallery.
Canon 40D, 10-22mm lens at 13mm, F/5.6, ISO 200, 10 second exposure. On-camera 580EX (recall 1/16 power with wide-angle curtain pulled) with the whole contraption hanging upside down on the tripod an inch above the ground and triggered via a wireless remote.
Cropped and resized 50% ... I was shooting "blind" with the setup since my family was watching the show! I didn't stay still after the flash fired, so there's some "double exposure" feel to it when the fireworks "bleeds" over to the hat.
Yes, I should have un-crumpled the hat before the shot ... plus another half a dozen things - oh well, maybe next year.
And yes, that is the photographer wearing the patriotic hat-ware ... ;-)

In honor of the upcoming 4th of July, show us your fireworks photos!!! ...and how you captured them.
the problem was where I was the fireworks captured us! And they were not man-made.
Lightining was striking about once a second, vicious winds, total power loss for 12 hours (some still out).
Yeah it was an unusual 4th....
exciting, just exactly in the way anticipated and hoped
In a previous post, I shared some images from the 3rd. Here are some images from the 4th. They are a collection of fireworks we shot, and what neighbors' were shooting off. All were shot with the 1D2N, 24-105 @ f/11, ISO 100, in Bulb. Exposure time varies. Used a Cable Release & Tripod.
