Here are some more photos from Ian and Matilda's wedding. I am thinking these are all very strong images that they will enjoy. What do you think? I always appreciate any feedback.
The images are strong, yes... but the picture of the bartender and the cellist? Strong images or not, I highly doubt I'd care about the "hired help" at my wedding. Even my photographer, who I'm friends with, probably wouldn't have his face in my wedding album.
Really enjoyed the images, Martin. Beautiful...my favorite from this wedding is still the tilted B&G picture of them on the dock.
Jonathan, I disagree. I have requests frequently to photograph certain vendors. I don't get requests for all of them, but I could see a bride wanting a picture of a cellist over a bartender. From a female point of view, she's spent a year (on average) planning this event, and she'll want to remember every detail of it, especially the fact that she had strings at her wedding. The bartender picture may not be something that the bride wants, but we tend to post images here that we like from a more artistic POV, not a wedding album POV.
P.S. My personal favorites just happen to be the bartender and the cellist!
Not to speak for Martin here, but judging from the focus of the picture I'd say the subject was more so the wine itself and less the actual person serving it. However, like Cathy mentioned, there are some brides who insist on these types of pictures - every last detail she's been agonizing over (until realizing, years from now, she over-planned and didn't relax enough to enjoy it...oops, sorry, that was the bride from a recent shoot).
I like the picture of the wine, especially with the drip coming off the bottle. I wouldn't put it in an album, but it would be one for my collection. The last one, #9 is nice.
Oh yeah.. definitely need all the details of the wedding.... IMHO
Many brides spent months researching/planning for their wedding and I'm sure she would like to show "those" who didn't get to celebrate the important moment of theirs to know as much as what has happened at the event.
I see an event photographer to capture photo/moment which tell stories. With the Cellist's picture.. ppl can imagine/picture the atmosphere of surrounding and feel it.
Just my 2 cents...
Cheers

I have to say surprises me the criticism that the drink and musician photos are irrelevant or a waste of time. I agree that they are not nearly important as the couple or guests, but isn't it our job to photograph EVERYTHING going on? That was what I thought but maybe I am wrong?
Oh, and BTW, the groom actually approached me and said "make sure you get photographs of the band". I already had but I got a couple more just to be safe
Number one is my absolute FAVORITE!! That's exactly the kind of detail shot that DOES go inside my own storybook designs. It's artistic and beautiful and covers an area of her reception that she put a lot of money into.
The PP looks good. Though I'm not a fan of sepia (that's just personal taste, not a remark on yours in particular).
There are a few that seem only so-so to me... 3,7 and 9 as examples... but I'm also only moderately behind numbers 4 and 5.
I really like 2,6 and 8... though I'd have preferred the upright bass (not a CELLO!!) shot UNtilted.

+1 for first one. It's an attention catcher, you were spot on and it makes me want to have a romantic dinner with candle + wine...she will love it!
