I just go the T5D-R, not sure what the difference is, but as a comparison to the 550EX it's an order of magnitude different. Paired with my 5D in my early 'get used to using it' shots I've been extremely impressed. It's a lot of weight with the battery+head compared to the 550EX solution but it seems worth it so far. Keep in mind I was more playing with camera settings than posing my (un)willing subjects. Early afternoon, sun behind them type shots you can see where getting close with the T5 means white out so either ND it or get further back. This was on a bracket, without the radio.
