Abandoned truck at sunset in the "ghost town" of Nelson, NV

Hello everybody. Here is the info on this shot:

5D
17-40 L @ F/4
ISO 400
Handheld
circular polarizer

This image is copyrighted by the owner

Processing was: Converted from raw in Lightroom. - Used some shadow recovery and added more vignetting to balance out the polarizer shadow. - In CS2, I used the Tri-X 400 filter from Alien Skin's "Exposure 2" to convert to B&W... then some touch-up for dust spots, and finally added some contrast via USM..

Great conversion Mac - might be over the top for some, but I love it. The truck has an almost 3d effect to it as well, very cool.

I like it, great conversion. I'm just not too sure about the vignetting in the upper left.

I would like to see it with less noise but the detail and depth of this photo gives it a great feel, like you could reach out and touch it.

Nelson is just a little bit southeast of Las Vegas, close to the Colorado river

I usually don't go this far with the processing, but for some reason, I felt it worked with this one... I know what you mean about the 3D look.. I am very happy I shot at F4 with this one and that's probably why it stands out so much... unfortunately, I have a habit of always shooting at F16 for stuff like this and I usually miss out on that effect...

Thanks, Terry.

As far as the vignetting goes, that was just an expansion on the vignetting that was there out-of-camera... I pushed it a little more so that it would blend with the polarizer shadow... the sun was going down right there on the horizon and that's the reason for the hot area...

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the conversion...

I actually like the noise in this particular shot.. kinda reminds me of film grain...

I like the harsh light and contrast and the processing and the grain, definitely worth exploring.
