You scratch my back and .....

Went down to the river Rhone this evening and the light was fading but managed to get a few shots of some horses.

I love # 3 - - just wish it wasn't so grainy. Maybe NoiseWare can help you a little. It's a sweet shot.

Nice shots. Try to avoid going beyond ISO 400 with 400D. Your Exif details shows the 2nd and 3rd images are shot at ISO 800 with shutter 1/1600 and 1/2000 sec respectively. The results of 2nd and 3rd images would be much improved with ISO 400 and an appropriate slower shutter speeds.

Wonderful color and light in those shots, Martin. I especially like #2 and 3. The poses are quite heart-warming.

Thanks Terry, Lil, Jude and Carole for your comments and tips. I had not realised the 400d was so limited on the ISO speed. I usually try not to go beyond 400 ISO and keep it lower most of the time. I took some shots of a heron on the same evening and as it had got darker and the heron was flying up the river I put the ISO up to 1600 to increase the shutter speed but the shots were not at all usable. Will check out NoiseWare but if anyone has it and would like to try it on number 3 please feel free to do so, or I could send on the full photo if required.
