OK so I had this idea awhile back. Let's see what your FIRST post looks like.
You can post up to three pics from either your first post or whatever you can dig up that's close to your first.

What's amazing to me that in a period of One Year I went from these to what I do now....
I may be wrong, but I think I've improved

I want to thank Time Kuhn who brought up the same Idea on my 2000th Post
I recently received a PM from 74chevelle454 Chad with the same idea

(Sorry Chad.... It's actually 72Chevelle454.. Blame DaveinLA he started it)

Here are three of my early posts. Maybe not my first but definitely close to it.

I purchased my first DSLR in Dec of 05', a Rebel XT, I decided to purchase a very long and powerful zoom lens as well, the 70-200 f4 . Thanks to Ron (my Brother) for getting me into this hobby I also thank him for me now being 20+k in the hole 3 1/2 years later

This looks like fun to see each one of ours first posted pictures to this forum. Finally Anthony has come up with a brilliant idea. I purchased my first SLR or rather DSLR- 400D(XTi) in February 2007. My first long lens - a Sigma 70-300 was purchased in July 2007. My first post to this forum was on 18th July 2007. The following pictures are from my first post.

Could have been this one. It is one of my oldest. Quite a crop.

Great idea, but I don't know if I should. My first post was only 3 1/2 months ago, and quite frankly, I think I've gotten worse, not better!!

If this was not my first post....it's close. This was with the $150 70-300mm lens. before I knew what WB, F Stop, ISO etc even was. I think I shot this on full auto. Funny I can remember the exact place he was when I took this.

This was one of my first birds to.

Hey Mark, that is funny that you say you can remember the spot you took the shot, I have that job in my memory everytime I look at my older stuff, often remembering the weather of the day too. That must be where 'photographic memory' comes from And that shot must have made a very proud moment for you too!

I can't find my first post on this forum, but here are some of my first pictures ever with a DSLR.

Here is a couple of zoo pictures just after we bought our first DSLR, a Rebel XTi and 100-400 lens. We were practicing for an upcoming trip to Africa:

Then we went to Africa and here are a couple of pictures from that trip, the first time we ever traveled with a DSLR:

After we got back I got into bird photography, so here are some of my early attempts at birds:

Anthony, thanks for the idea for this thread -- it is interesting to go back and look at stuff from almost 2 years ago to see what it looked like when we first got into photography.

OK, it took some searching, but I did find my first post.... It was on Dec 22, 2007 at 11:09 AM. I had almost left FM due to feeling totally unwelcome in another forum here. Then I posted these in the same forum, a last desperate attempt..... Someone suggested I'd post these here & so I did....

Here's my first post in this forum.

Here's one of the shots.... You be the judge - - better or worse 136 days ago.

Nice call out Anthony A little story with my first post in the Nature forum. I had a lot of years shooting film/slide and developing and enlarging. Got my first DSLR Rebel Xti and thought it would be simple to jump right in, well it still was a big learning curve on the processing part and I got frustrated!

The good thing is, all the people here gave me great motivation and guidance to keep at it, I hesitated to start posting until I was comfortable with my results, I can be very hard and critical on myself too. There is a lot of great talent here, I am happy to be part of the learning group.....thanks everyone!

My first post was Jan 15, 2008, not long ago, only had two people respond to it, thanks Terry D, a long time friend and to Mr Zoom (Ken). So here it is.................

Good idea for a thread. I haven't been actively posting for long, however these from Costa Rica were included in my first post (on the nature and wildlife forum anyways).

Oh gosh, they are all so good, and I have only this past few weeks acquired my first digital SLR and I'm still very amateur, I don't even know the lingo yet.

I have only posted once, I feel a little out of my depth, but I do realize that I can learn allot from all of the C&C.

Here are a my very first pictures, and don't laugh.

Here's my first post, might look a bit familiar. Shot in 2005 with first gen digi rebel, 300f 4L. I have learned so much since then, I wish I could go back and re-shoot that evening. The color was unbelievable. I think I posted it late 2006

The addiction began in April of 2005 . My brand new G2 and 28-135 lens were ready for some Saturday morning action in the back yard. I'd read just enough to know where the shutter button was located, and spent the next couple of hours having a blast photographing flowers and trees. I was completely and totally hooked. A few weeks later on a Sunday morning, I left early for Yoga class to take some pictures along the water. I never made it to Yoga class that morning and instead, found this Mallard, my first wildlife picture. There's a dozen things wrong with this image, but I posted it in June '05 and kept it for sentimental reasons. Life hasn't been the same since.

I remember my first post was a butterfly (how strange! ) probably a Painted lady, but I cannot find it. I found these that I posted at the beginning of Settember 2005 and since I joined at the end of Aug 2005 this are definitely my first pics posted. They were all taken with the 20D.
Great idea Anthony

Great idea Anthony, and enlightening as well.

Here are a few from those early days after I got my 10D. That was about the time I discovered this forum. IMHO, my work has improved significantly thanks to the input and advice from the wonderful folks on this forum.

These are a bit small as the posting rules back then were a bit different.
