If the Nikon rumours come true, we'll all be jumping ship anyway;
D3x + 200 f/4 VR macro will be worth the price of admission alone, let alone the 3 new pc lenses two with macro ability.
It looks like the D400 with FF sensor will be out before Canon updates the 5D; maybe when the competition lays the smack down on them they will finally act. So far it seems Canon has 20/20 hindsight.
Even if these D3X and 200/4 will turn out true, I personally would opt for the D3 and 105/2.8 VR. I like the "low" MP count and the lighter weight of the 100mm lenses vs. the 200mm ones.
I wanted the 1D Mk III but am not willing to risk it and as a 100/2.8 owner, I'd buy a 100/2.8 IS in a heartbeat.

Yeah that 400 f/4 VR Macro sounds great!
I was given a Fuji S2 Pro this week, So I will use that for a while to determine if I will go ahead and buy a D300 later this year, And possibly even make the switch over to Nikon. I will wait and see what Canon had to offer with the 5D2, And if the new Nikon Rumours do pan out. In the meantime, I will start to build up a Nikon lens kit to use with the S2 Pro.....

Not sure Canon has gotten "20/20 hindsight" thing yet. That would imply they were capable of assessing things accurately, and it doesn't look like they've done that for several years...
I actually think they're still dazed, standing around going "D'oh!" (a Simpsons reference) and wondering how they can jack the prices of their bodies while delivering absolutely nothing new, ala the recent price hike.
yes, I continue putting money into Canon's coffers, but it's looking less and less wise to do so. Still, if they come out with a new and "more than simply" competitive camera, I'll look at them seriously. If it's not stellar and exceptional, vs. more of the same, then they can pound sand...

But the price hike is due to global economic factors, Down here the prices on Canon gear has dropped! The 40D has dropped allot since it was first launched, And is nearly (If not) Cheaper then allot of the Grey importers prices! Also allot of Canon lenses have also been reduced in price (But still not as cheap as the grey importers). And it's not just Canon, But most brands seemed to have dropped the prices too!
