Have you noticed Canon's upgrade cycle? It's like clockwork. Since 2003, the prosumer models are being upgraded every 1.5 years. And the professional models are being upgraded every 3 years. The 5D will turn 3 years old this Fall.

On top of his Nikon experience, I understand he's close friends with the folks that told Bush and Co about the Iraqi WMDs, so it has to be true!
hear ye! hear ye! all sinners.
Did you forget the prayer : "Don't bring us into temptation"?
I just get my dirty hand on the 5D only for 3 months, and you're now making me started drooling again!
I am not worry about whether you'll go to hell, but I know for sure that my so call "angel/sugar" will be damn sure that I will get there if I started dreaming about the 5DII, 24-70 IS, etc...
The source is an old Israeli photographer which shoots Nikon, has a vast collection of Nikon equipment and has some internal knowledge in Nikon and Canon (a little). FWIW, he is well respected in Israel and is considered a reliable source.
BTW, the link is in Hebrew so I see no point in posting it. Then again, if some of you do read Hebrew I will post it.
I bet he said that the 5D2 will cost what a 5d did at release, have faster af than any Canon, better fps than any sports camera, use CF and SDHC or whatever at the same time, be weather sealed, have sensor cleaning, iso 50-25600 with an option for 51200, +/-50 MA for lenses, 1500 shot battery life, with a built in battery grip, 3 extra batteries, kitted with a 10-300 f/1.2 IS DO VR DX IRS CIA lens, and a 56k modem.
These rumor threads are ridiculous. I didn't buy my 30D and look at it and go, man...if only it was this much better. I bought it to shoot it. When I buy my next camera, I'm not going to look at it, thinking of the next upgrade that I have to have. I don't look at my future wife thinking of my next wife.
I think a lot of people are getting themselves worked up for something, thinking that something is going to be amazing, and maybe they are getting to worked up. For example, it's said that the 20D to the 30D isn't a big upgrade. For all we know, that's all the more the 5D to the 5D2 will be.
A few things I think you can count on would be, "weather sealing", not like the 1D series, but more like 40D+ or something. I think live view (doesn't the XSi have it, and the 40D does too), that "sensor cleaning", and the ISO noise reduction that the 40D or whatever has. Higher MP, maybe a bit faster frame rate, and better/updated AF. I think the price point will be similar to the 5d's original price. This seems to make sense with the current Canon upgrade models.

Guaranteed Canon 5DII announcement pending. I just ordered a new 5D. Announcement will occur within 5 minutes of me opening the box.
Nah, 5 minutes after you show all your buddies your newest toy. Then your newest toy becomes "out-dated". You'll come to the forums and say, can I use the 5D for weddings? Someone will say, nah you need the 5D2, the 5D doesn't have the (insert what the 5D does now, and does very, very well here) that the 5D2 does.
I wanted to sell off my other 3 bodies and get a 1D mark III, but my friend sold his after afing it for just 2 months. AF issues. (what's new?) Thing is, he took it to Canon in Irvine twice. Had the Blue Dot already. They applied some other fix. In the daytime, focus was pretty good. But at night, using flash, even with micro-adjusted lenses, it would constantly grab focus of something in the background.
I am hoping Canon comes out with a new 1D Mark III N with 100% fixed AF, and upgrade the LCD to a full 640x480 display, Everything else about the 1D Mark III is VERY nice as-is. Of course, be nice to toss in contrast-based Live View.
I seriously doubt the notion that the alleged N model will have a different sensor. And no, he gave no further info about spec as he doesn't know. He is a Nikon guy and his info about Canon is much less than it is about Nikon.
Also, if you don't like rumour threads, why click on them and say you don't like them? Just avoid clicking on them.
