Trying out shooting positive paper (instead of film) in my camera, it's quite an interesting challenge! Developed in Dektol (and most other 'normal' paper developers?) the contrast is super high, probably 2 stops of range. Metered for ISO 1.5, around mid day. A nice challenge!
Yea, the last photo I wasn't expecting to turn out to well, I was curious how such a high contrast shot would look on the paper. To kind of help it a little, I did a bit of tilt and swing on the front to get a bit of a tilted focus plane.
The 8x10 is heavy, but still loads of fun to shoot! I just took off my shoes, and brought my tripod out into the water just a bit, so that I could get a bit closer to the rocks. The water was COLD haha!

Mendicino (spelling?) coast?

Tom, I believe the beach was called "El Matador", it's in Malibu CA, north passed Point Dume. There is usually a fair ammount of folks out there taking photos, or doing other 'artsy' projects (I've seen people painting, filming plays, shooting portaits, holding weddings, and so on) but we went on a Friday this time, and there was a large-ish wedding going on, so I think most folks saw the wedding and just turned around since the wedding was taking up 1/2 of the parking lot. They couldn't ask people to leave, but they said that we could only use 1/2 of the parking lot. We parked out up on the PCH and just walked all the way in, hardly anyone on the beach
